(Vista) Toshiba - Matshita DVD-ram problem.

Hello I have a toshiba laptop. I could use my dvd ram before, but many times like more than 3 times have a problem. so I cant use DVD ram at all. every time I used system restore, is there any way to fix this except restore? please help me. this is tooo annoying. when I click th device manager, I can see this comment. Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39) I tried find the driver of matshita on Internet, but I couldnt find it. Help me please! i have new hp compaq 6720s a few days old rang hp and they sent new dvd ram ,this was put in but still laptop does not reconise the matshita dvd. as the other have stated error 39 driver corrupted or missing and windows will not update or install

You need to go to device manager and pull up the properties for the DVD drive and choose the "Region" that you are in. After that the drive should work.

My matSHITa dvd-ram uj880es drive wont work.


There is a small hole in the drawer to poke a paperclip, or toothpick into and open it manually. Have you tried to see if there is a cd or something jammed in it? Or try to update the driver in the control panel system.

i had this problem with my toshiba satellite M100... but actually, all you have to do is to download the latest patch for sims 3 and it will work perfectly fine. at least that's how i fixed mine.

Matshita DVD Ram UJ 820S in my Toshiba Satellite P35 S611


msot laptop drives are 8x newer ones are 16x. you can find most drives work with most laptops. its the harware in the back that hlds drive to pc with a screw that has to be transfered to new drive. but bestbuy isnt in my top list for laptop repair.

DVD/CDRW drive not recognising any DVD's

Note: The solution provided requires editing of the registry.
  1. To begin the process, start the Registry Editor.
    • Click Start, click Run, type regedit, and then click OK.
    • On Vista machines, Run is accessible through Accessories.
    • Click the plus sign (+) next to the following folders in the left side of the window pane:
