First download a media player for Redhat.
Then you need to install a Codec Pack

It depends on situation.
What is your operating system?

Tip

Change your Hostname without Rebooting in RedHat Linux

Requirements
RedHat Linux (should apply to 7.x and up)

This tutorial covers changing your hostname in RedHat Linux without having to do a reboot for the changes to take effect. I’ve tested this on RedHat 7.3, 9, Fedora Core 9, and RHEL 5.3. It should work for all the versions in between since they all closely follow the same RedHa tconfiguration. What’s the point of this tutorial? Never reboot if you don’t have to and keep your uptime intact.

Make sure you are logged in as root and move to /etc/sysconfig and open the network file in vi.

cd /etc/sysconfig
vi network

Look for the HOSTNAME line and replace it with the new hostname youwant to use. In this example I want to replace localhost with“MyServer”.

HOSTNAME=MyServer

When you are done, save your changes and exit vi. Next we will edit the /etc/hosts file and set the new hostname.

vi /etc/hosts

In hosts, edit the line that has the old hostname and replace it with your new one.

10.33.44.55 MyServer

Save your changes and exit vi. The changes to /etc/hosts and/etc/sysconfig/network are necessary to make your changes persistent (in the event of an unscheduled reboot).

Now we use the hostname program to change the hostname that is currently set.

hostname MyServer

And run it again without any parameters to see if the hostname changed.

hostname

Finally we will restart the network to apply the changes we made to /etc/hosts and /etc/sysconfig/network.

service network restart

To verify the hostname has been fully changed, logout of your system and you should see your new hostname being used at the login prompt and after you’ve logged back in.

Quick, painless, and you won’t lose your server’s uptime.

Sir, Please tell me How to install vlc player in redhat 5.0 linux. Thanks

How about:

Download the vlc-0.9.9a-7.el5.rf.i386.rpm RPM from http://apt.sw.be/redhat/el5/en/i386/dag/RPMS/

And then install it via the command:
yum localinstall vlc-0.9.9a-7.el5.rf.i386.rpm from the loaction you downloaded it to.

You may, also, need some other RPMs if there are unmet dependencies with your installed sofware.

CANNOT PLAY 3GP FILES

There are several ways to play 3GP files. My personal favorite is VLC Media player (or if you prefer using Windows Media player, pls refer to 2)
  1. VLC ( http://www.videolan.org/vlc/) media player (freeware) is presented as the easiest solution to playing back many of the common multimedia files that are available. However, while VLC does in fact support the 3GP format, it does not include software to decode AMR audio. If your files have AAC audio then technically, VLC should be able to play your 3GP files.
  2. Windows Media Player can technically play 3GP files, but you will need to install some extra software. Firstly, the 3GP container needs to be accessible and then you also need software that can decode the video and audio (H.263, H.264, AAC, AMR). You can use either
