Instructions:

  • Examine if there's a problem with the filter. If the machine isn't draining, spinning or agitating, the washer pump filter may be clogged, and you should clean the pump filter. Other giveaways that the filter may need cleaning include the washer performing an incomplete cycle, the timer not advancing or the washer just not running

  • Open the pump access door with a coin. Remove the pump filter by turning it counterclockwise and pulling it out.
  • Clean the filter with your fingernails, removing all loose debris. Wash the filter under running water until it is clean.

  • Replace the filter. Insert it back into its housing, turn it clockwise and close the door.

  • i hope this helps you ,thank you

My front loading GE WASHER WILL NOT DRAIN OR SPIN THIS MACHINE ISN"T VERY OLD WHAT COULD THE PROBLEM BE?

A common occurance is blockage of the water pump propellers. Check your machine's manual to familiarise yourself with the drain filter.

Please note by openning the filter, the existing water in the machine will drain out on to the floor. Be prepared for this with towls and mops.

Clean out the filter. Use a torch to look into the cavity and make sure nothing has gone through the filter to the pump propellors.

Once the filter is clean and all the water has drained out. Start the machine on spin cycle. If you can hear the water pump working then all should be well. If there is no sound from the water pump, it needs replacing or further investigation by a technician.

    Good Luck.

My ge model wbvh5200j2ww washer wont't start. it has power on the panel but doorwon't latch or start filling.

If the pump filter is clogged, the washer won't even turn on. This filter is located behind the small access panel at the bottom on the front of the washer. Remove access panel, flip down scoop, and unscrew filter. You will need a bowl to catch water that comes out(may smell bad). Pull out filter, clean, and replace. Washer should work normally afterwards.

THE GE WASHERS HAVE A PUMP FILTER BEHIND THE LOWEST PANEL ON THE FRONT. ON THE FRONT OF THE MACHINE AT THE VERY BOTTOM, REMOVE THE THREE SCREWS TO REMOVE THE BOTTOM PANEL AND YOU WILL SEE THE ROUND PUMP FILTER HOUSING. IF ON A PEDESTAL, PLACE A BUCKET IN THE DRAWER AS WATER WILL COME OUT WHEN YOU UNSCREW THE FILTER. IF ON THE FLOOR, TILT MACHINE BACK A WAYS TO GET THE WATER INTO THE BACK OF THE TUB, NOT TOO FAR OR IT WILL COME OUT OF THE REAR VENTS. REMOVE FILTER AND CLEAN OUT. THIS IS THE PROBLEM MANY TIMES.

Wash machine agitates but won't drain the water -- on any cycle choice. Machine makes noise like something is happening, but water remains.

Yes, the problem is the pump filter which is hidden behind the lower front panel. To access the filter, unscrew three screws at the bottom of the panel and carefully remove the lower front panel. Make sure to unplug the machine. With the panel removed you will see the pump filter. Get a bucket and some towels ready, because when you open the filter, you may get a gallon plus of water coming out. GE failed to put this in the use and care manual for the 6260. But low an behold, GE put an access door and explicit instructions on cleaning the pump filter in the updated 6400.

You may have burned out your washer pump. That is what happened to me. The machine would not drain or spin properly and so I kept pushing the blinking start/pause button to get it going again. Then it finally did not drain at all. I installed a new pump and with the cleaned filter, the machine worked like new. For some, simply cleaning the filter allows the pump to work properly. As the filter gets clogged the pump has to work harder and harder to pump out the water. When this happens the cycle times get extended . One symptom of a clogged filter is the final minute (spin cycle) takes much longer. Obviously this is a "design flaw" that GE "fixed" in the recent version of the 6260.

    Will not drain or spin

There is another posted problem similar to this one if you look at GE front-loading washers.  I can tell you right now, though, that we just cleaned the filter (had the same problem as you) and everything is working perfectly now.  The bottom panel (on the front) of your washer comes off by removing 3 screws.  Our filter was full of lint, change, barrettes, etc.  I would highly recommend looking for that other post (has more information) or trying to clean the filter.  Hope this helps!

Old GE Washer WNSR2100T8WW will not pump out water nor spin

Possible your outlet filter is blocked. This requires cleaning depending on your usage. Clean this out and refit. Good luck. Plug off the wall first.
