Hi there, i am having trouble in the final stage of creating a DVD Video disc. after i have confirmed selection of my scenes and chosen my title etc and inserted my blank DVD disc every time i press "start copy" my disc drive ejects my disc and this error message comes up:
Media that is not supported may have been inserted. Click OK after inserting DVD +R/RW/RAM
I have tried 3 different brands of DVD +R and also DVD +RW
The reason for this error is that there is a conflict between HD Writer and other software on your computer. I was trying to find a solution for weeks before Panasonic advised me to remove other DVD burning software on my computer. I therefore removed Pinnacle and DVD decrypter (which I believe was causing the problem), reinstalled HD Writer and then everything worked fine. Note however that the DVD-RW discs I had tried to use before were corrupted and couldn't be reformatted and therefore once you have removed the other software and reinstalled HD Writer, start again with new DVD-RW discs. Good Luck.

To finalize a disc: First make sure that you left enough space after recording to the disc. Press Stop or Disc-Menu (during playback). Select the first title with the Up arrow or Stop. Then press the Up arrow to get the Disc Information. Then press the right arrow to enter Settings For. Then use the up/down arrows to select Finalize disc and select OK to confirm.
This option will only be available for unfinalized discs that were recorded to by this DVD recorder. If the disc was created on another unit you may be able to finalize it with the Finalize feature in the main menu. (Tools (icon has a hammer and a wrench) > Features).
Hi, You need to Finalize recorded discs in camcorder as finalize option is available in camcorder menu. make sure that camera gets power from ac adapter/ charger when finalizing disc. It wont finalize disc on battery. Thanks.
I replied you in premium post as well. here is with details...
Be sure to use the AC adapter to power the DVD Video Camera when finalizing a DVD-R disc. Finalization cannot be executed using a battery pack. Now you will see finalize option in menu and can select it to finalize disc.
The software is built into the camera. Go to disc navigation then once thumbnails are created press menu, scroll down to the disc icon, select finalize and confirm yes or no. The mini disc is now playable in most DVD machines.
Assuming you are not having an actual hardware problem with the DVD player or an incompatible format (e.g. HD video & non-HD player); you should know that when you write video to DVD-R or DVD+R discs, you have to 'finalize' the discs on the creating drive for them to be playable on a regular DVD player. (Note a finalized disc can no longer be written to. If the player can read DVD-Ram (and your creating drive can write to them), DVD-Ram discs do not need to be finalized.)
to finalize the disk for enabling discs to be played on other devices.
Connect this unit to the AC adaptor. Finalization cannot be executed using a battery.
Rotate the mode dial to select the arrow.
Press the MENU button, then select SETUP, FINALIZE, YES and press the joystick. Select whether or not to create a top menu, then press the joystick. When the confirmation message appears, select YES then press the joystick.
hope this helps you. julie
I had this same issue...I bet you're using DVD-R, am I correct?
Apparently you can't copy video from DVD-R to the HD Writer. Period. Just can't do it. (Would be nice if they mentioned this in the manual.)
You can only use DVD-RW and must format the disc to VR format, not Video format.
I'm using a program called Handbrake (free) which I think can convert your .vob files (from the Video_TS folder on your DVD) to quicktime files, or similar, so that you can actually do something with the video...
Best of luck, I'm really no expert, and I probably won't return to this page, so a reply to me is likely not going to be read by me...
You have to finalize the dvd's through the menu... from page 36 of the manual....on the remote control press SETUP use the arrow key to select "DISC EDIT" press OK Use the arrow key to select FINALIZE press OK. A confirmation window appears, use the arrow to select YES and press OK.
