Color ink problem

Solution one: Check the ink levels To allow for full use of the cartridges, some printers continue to print even after the cartridges are completely out of ink. Follow these steps to check the ink levels in the Toolbox . The Toolbox is part of the standard printer software. Depending on the version of Toolbox on your computer, the appearance of the Toolbox features might vary.
NOTE: Ink level warnings and indicators provide estimates for planning purposes only. When an indicator shows low ink levels, consider having a replacement cartridge available to avoid possible printing delays. Print quality deteriorates as cartridges run out of ink.
  1. Click Start (c01827528.gif ), click All Programs , click the HP folder, and then click the icon for your HP printer (c02053172.gif ). The printer software opens.
  2. In the printer software, double-click Estimated Ink Levels . The Toolbox opens.
  3. Click the Estimated Ink Levels tab to display the estimated ink level of each cartridge. Figure 1: Estimated ink level indicator c02752297.gif Image: Estimated ink level indicator.
  4. If the ink level indicators show that a cartridge is low or empty, replace the cartridge.
  5. Try printing again.
  • If these steps resolved the issue , you do not need to continue troubleshooting.
  • If the issue persists , continue to the next solution.
Solution two: Reset the printer Resetting the printer might clear the issues and allow the printer to function correctly again.
  1. Press the Power button (c01602202.gif ) to turn off the printer.
NOTE: Pressing the Power button might not turn off the printer. This might happen if the printer is in an error state. Continue with these steps regardless.
  2. Disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer. Figure 2: Disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer c01869581.gif Image: Disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
  3. Disconnect the USB cable from the rear of the printer. Figure 3: Disconnect the USB cable from the rear of the printer c01850063.gif Image: Disconnect the USB cable from the rear of the printer.
  4. Wait 30 seconds.
  5. Reconnect the USB cable to the printer. Figure 4: Reconnect the USB cable to the printer c01868577.gif Image: Reconnect the USB cable to the printer.
  6. Reconnect the power cord to the printer. Figure 5: Reconnect the power cord to the printer c01869582.gif Image: Reconnect the power cord to the printer.
  7. Press the Power button (c01602202.gif ) to turn on the printer.
  8. Try printing again.
  • If these steps resolved the issue , you do not need to continue troubleshooting.
  • If the issue persists , continue to the next solution.
Solution three: Restart the computer Restarting your computer might resolve the issue.
  1. Save the latest changes to your files, and then close all your open programs.
  2. Click Start , and then click Shut Down . A dialog box opens.
  3. Select Restart . Most computers turn off, and then turn on again automatically.
NOTE: If a dialog box opens with a message that it is now ok to turn off the computer, press the power button on the computer to turn it off. Then press the power button again to turn it on. After a few minutes, the computer is ready to print again.
  4. Reopen the file that you want to print, and then try printing again.
  • If these steps resolved the issue , you do not need to continue troubleshooting.
  • If the issue persists , continue to the next solution.
Solution four: Check for blank pages in the print preview If the printer prints all pages correctly, but it adds blank pages to the printout, check for blank pages in the print preview.
  1. In most programs, click File , and then click Print Preview . If the program you are using does not have this option, consult the program manufacturer.
  2. Review the print preview for blank pages.
  • If the print preview reveals blank pages, delete the blank pages in the document, and then try printing again.
  • If the preview contains no blank pages, continue with the next solution.
Solution five: Check the USB cable If the printer connects with a USB cable, a faulty connection might cause the issue. Follow these instructions to check the USB cable.
  1. Make sure that the USB cable inserts all the way into its port on the rear of the printer. Use some pressure to push it in all the way. Figure 6: Insert a USB cable into the rear of the printer c01868577.gif Image: Insert a USB cable into the rear of the printer.
  2. Make sure that the USB cable inserts all the way into its port on the computer. Use some pressure to push it in all the way.
  3. If the issue persists, try replacing the USB cable with a known good cable.
  • If these steps resolved the issue , you do not need to continue troubleshooting.
  • If the issue persists , continue to the next solution.
Solution six: Check the printer settings on the computer Issues with the printer settings on the computer might cause the printer to print blank pages. Follow these steps to check the printer settings on the computer. Step one: Check the default paper settings Make sure that the default paper size matches the width and length of the paper loaded in the tray. If the paper loaded in the tray is different from the paper size setting, the printer might print blank pages. For instance, the issue might occur if legal size paper (215 x 355 mm (8.5 x 14 in)) is in the tray, and the paper size setting is letter (215 x 279 mm (8.5 x 11 in)). Follow these steps to check the default paper settings.
  1. Click Start (c01827528.gif ).
  2. Click Printers and Faxes . The Printers and Faxes folder opens.
  3. Right-click the icon for your printer (c01532298.gif ), and then click Printing Preferences . The Printing Preferences window opens.
  4. Click the Paper/Quality tab, and then compare the settings in the Paper Size drop-down menu with the paper in the tray. If the size of the paper in the tray is not the same as the setting in the Paper Size drop-down menu, change the setting:
    1. Click the Paper Size drop-down list, and then select the size of the paper that is in the tray.
    2. Click Apply to save the settings, and then click OK to close the Printing Preferences window.
Step two: Print a test page Follow these steps in the order presented to print a test page. A test page might help determine if the printer installation caused the problem.
  1. Click Start (c01827528.gif ).
  2. Click Printers and Faxes . The Printers and Faxes folder opens.
  3. Right-click the printer icon (c01532298.gif ), and then click Properties . The Properties window opens.
  4. In the General tab, click Print Test Page . The printer prints the Windows XP Printer Test Page. Figure 7: Example of Windows XP Printer Test Page c01532301.gif Image: Example of Windows XP Printer Test Page.
  • If the Windows XP Printer Test Page prints successfully, you do not need to continue troubleshooting.
  • If the page is blank, continue to the next solution.
Solution seven: Print from an alternate program Follow these steps to try printing from an alternate program, such as Microsoft Notepad or WordPad, to determine if the current program is causing the issue.
  1. Browse to the location of your saved document, right-click the file, and then click Open With . A window opens with a list of programs.
  2. Select a program other than the program you are currently using to print the document.
  3. Open the file in the program, and then check the contents.
NOTE: Most files open in plain text applications, such as Notepad or WordPad, even if the contents include unusual symbols or text that does not make sense.
  4. Try to print the file:
    1. Click File , and then click Print . The Print window opens.
    2. Select your HP printer from the Select Printer drop-down menu, and then click OK .
If successful, the printer prints exactly what displays in the program window.
    • If the document prints successfully in the alternate program, you do not need to continue troubleshooting. The issue is likely specific to the program you are trying to print from. Consult the program manufacturer for assistance.
    • If the document still prints blank pages in the alternate program, continue to the next solution.
    • here are a couple things you can try hope this helps you

"Check Color Cartridge" displays even after replacement of cartridge -though I don't think original cartridge was empty- and stops printer from printing. The new cartridge is installed properly, and...

  1. First, check your cartridges. HP cannot guarantee the quality of remanufactured or refilled cartridges.
  2. Second, make sure your paper is not causing the problem. Paper that does not accept ink well can cause your images to smear or bleed. Plain paper is not the best choice for high-density graphics. Click here to see how to pick the best paper for your project .
  3. If the paper is not the problem and you are using genuine HP cartridges, print a clean test to see if the printer and cartridges are functioning properly. Load the printer with clean, plain, white paper and print a clean test page. To see how to print a clean test page, see your printer's User's Guide , or see HP Deskjet Printers - How To Print Internal Tests , or HP All-in-One Product Family - Printing Self-Test Reports .
  4. Evaluate the clean test page. Different printers produce different pages, but you should recognize elements from the examples below on your test page. In general, cartridge and printer problems are indicated by streaks, missing colors, or wrong colors.
    • Examples from a good printer and cartridges (your test page may not look exactly like this): Figure 1: Solid colors that match color dots on cartridge labelc00059224.gif Figure 2: Pattern unbroken, or broken in only a few placesc00059225.gif

c00059227.gif If your test page looks more like the good examples above than the bad examples shown in the next two sections below, the printer and cartridges are probably not causing the problem. Click here to continue troubleshooting .

Prints one or to pages then stops. Have to reset computer to get it to work. No test doesn't work. It is like it runs out of memory.

Try to run a test for continuous print test page in diagnostics mode. To enter the Diagnostics mode:
1. Turn off the printer.
2. Open the front access door.
3. Turn on the printer while pressing and holding Cancel .
4. Close the front access door once the Error light displays. Print the menu page by pressing and holding Continue until all of the lights flash. Follow the instructions on
the menu page to access the menu items.

Continuously print pages containing cross lines, printer information, and margin settings. Press and hold until the Continue button lights flash to begin. Press Cancel to stop.

Make sure he selects the "Cont Prt Simplex Tray 1" option

My Canon 5050N is printing blank pages. After printing, the green printing light continues to flash indefinitely.

Hi,
Goto your printer control software from canon. There you should find some options to print a test page. Try printing the test page and if it is printed without any problem, then you are making some mistake while printing within an application like MSword, etc.
SOLUTION: Reinstall your printer driver again so that the default settings will be restored rather than checking the plave where you went wrong.

If test page itself printed blank, then there is some problem with your printer hardware.
solution: Replace your cartridges and try again.

If still your problem persists, then its time to give your printer a service from an authorized canon cervice center.
I hope this is helpful to you

Canon BJC 4300 InkJet Printer

i assume the cleaning method that you perform is offline (taking the cartridge our and clean them). I suggest you clean the head during the printer on.. try to perform below steps per the manual Cleaning the printer Printing the test pages Cleaning the print head I assume you do not have the manual anymore (no DVD) i list down the step below Its a bit long manual I suggest you download them from the canon website.. if you still have problem I can send to you the BJC 4300 manual Cleanning printer Make sure the printer is turned off before cleaning it. It is a good idea to unplug the AC adapter also. Do not clean the exterior of the printer with volatile liquids such as thinners, benzine, or any spray-type or chemical cleaners; doing so will damage the surface of the printer. When cleaning the printer, avoid the area near the print head on the BJ cartridge. Do not touch the print head. Ink may leak out and cause stains. Clean the printer regularly to avoid printing problems. Remove any ink mist or paper debris from the interior of the printer using a soft cloth moistened with water. Clean especially well around the platen area. If the rollers become dirty, you can clean them using a small soft brush. Clean the exterior of the printer with a soft cloth moistened with water. Clean away smudges and dust. Do not use paper products (such as paper towels or tissues) to clean the inside of the printer. Printing the Test Pages You can print these test pages to check the operation of your printer and your print quality. Test A This test prints a repeating pattern of characters. Demonstration This test prints a sample page describing the printer's features. Printing the Test Page From Windows You use the Test option on the Control tab in your BJC-4300 Printer Driver for Windows to print a self test, demonstration page, or a nozzle test pattern. Before selecting a Test option, make sure paper is properly loaded in the sheet feeder (see Automatically Feeding Paper starting on page 3-7). Click on the Test option and then click on the Print button. Printing the Test Pages Using the Operators Panel To print a test page, make sure the printer is turned off and paper is loaded. All self-test prints are printed in accordance with the current printing settings (font, printing mode, etc.) *Red- Information for technician not included in the user manual Cleaning the Print Head Your printer is equipped with a print head cleaning function to ensure constant high quality printing. Cleaning the Print Head From Windows If you are using Windows, you can execute print head cleaning from the Control sheet in the printer driver. Simply click on Clean Ink Head. 4300 Chapter 4 Page 6 Cleaning the Print Head Using the Operators Panel If you want to clean the print head from the operator panel, follow these steps: 1 Make sure the printer is turned on. Make sure the green POWER light is on. 2 Press and hold the RESUME button for at least two seconds until the printer beeps twice. The POWER light will blink for several seconds while the print head is being cleaned. Perform the print head cleaning only when you encounter a print quality problem. Unnecessary and repetitious cleaning will waste ink. If you execute the print head cleaning while paper is manually loaded, the printer will eject the paper and then perform the cleaning. 4300 Chapter 4 Page 7
