Hi. Thanks for writing this posting. Saturday, my 19" Durabrand tv literally stopped working. Before it shut down, I had a partial screen and when I turned the tv off (hoping that the problem would somehow rectify itself), it wouldn't turn back on. I had it for only *four* months. Comcast gave me an 800 number but it rang to a fax signal. When I saw the posting here, I clicked on the Lenoxx site and called their 800 number which did not even ring. I called information and received a number, 877-874-8394 for Lenoxx Manufacturing but the person who answered said that they are Plaza Wire Design with Lenoxx being one division - but they manufacture towel racks. Ugh!

Unfortunately, this all happened one month after the 90 day return policy at Walmart *and* they don't even carry the product anymore. (I don't know whether it is because of defects or turning over to LCD.) One year prior to this, I purchased a cd/radio which also stopped working (the cd player). Luckily, it *was* within the 90 days of purchase and I returned it. They stopped selling that product as well.

What recourse do people in our situation have?

Small picture

If a standard set and not a LCD etc it has a picture tube, width is a product of the high voltage circuit in that set---this is called the deflection circuit----deflects the picture top to bottom and also left to right, most likely a bad cap or if a wave like motion can be seen in the picture maybe power supply but that is rare.

Not knowing the age, size or value of the set if it is over 5 years old or the screen size is under 32 inches just replace it.

If no major part is bad the repair could exceed 100 dollars.

Why is my sumsung tv model CS21B501HL take too long to show pictures when switch on?

after 4 or 5 yrs EHT ( transformer that supplies voltage to CRT TUBE - TV TUBE ) becomes weak - then 1 of the indication is that it takes few seconds time for picture to appear ( after few days it takes few hrs & then stops completely).............. .......so solution is EHT ( also called as flyback transformer ) should be replaced....... {{ few details about EHT---- its size will be around 3inch X 2inch X 2inch ---it will have 2 or 3 knobs to adjust focus , brightness ------ at bottom around 10 pins will be there ------- from EHT 1 thick red colour cable goes to CRT TUBE --------- on EHT its part number will be there }} -------- so if user is a technical person having idea about components ( resistors, transistors, diodes, etc ) , having tools like multimeter ( to check components) , soldering iron, soldering lead, flux, desoldering wig ( for removing components), etc also little experience in servicing field( compulsory) ----------------- then user can remove EHT from main board ---- take to electronic shop ----- buy same type EHT --------- fix to mainboard ( knobs on EHT should be adjusted according to picture --- after switching TV --- this adjustment is very important ) ----------iam from bangalore ........since it is very risky job i suggest to contact TV service engineer ------- because they are highly experienced & can fix this component very easily. ------------ [[ sometimes along with EHT another component called transistor ( big in size - situated close to EHT - it will have 3pins - its size will be 1inch X 1/2 inch X 1/2 cm --approximately ---- black in colour ----- fixed to aluminium metal ) --- will also gets deffective --- so this component also should be checked ]] ---- in your case this transistor is good ... because when this component gets deffective then TV won't get '' ON '' .............so in your case only EHT should be replaced.........100% it works normally .....GUARANTEE....... vishnuswamy_4.jpg

Sony FD Trinitron WEGA KV-34HS420 34" TV Last week the picture on the left and right of the screen started to go purple. It was about 2 inches from the outside that it did it. It went back to...

It is most likely a degaussing issue - replace the PTC thermistor (this is usually a 3-pin device located near the fuse in the power supply board; each has a different part number for different TV models and tube sizes) - check for dry solder joints on it first though, if they are intact, note the part number, as well as its reference on the PCB, order a replacement, fit it (they usually only fit one way on the board). I doubt this model uses electronic degaussing so the part itself should be easy enough to get hold of.

It might also be a good idea to borrow an electric degaussing wand from a workshop as well if you can, to fully remove the extraneous magnetic fields around the tube. This should hopefully solve your purity problem.

Our Insignia NS-30HTV picture is sort of hour-glass shaped on the edges. About 2-3 inches on each side of the picture is missing. How do you fix?

In my experience, this indicative of TV tube failure. However, just to be sure, try resetting the TV to factory defaults by entering the onscreen menus, select Picture, then reset. Also, power-cycle your TV (turn it off and unplug for several minutes). More details can be found in the owner's manual. If these steps don't resolve the display issue, you may call 1-888-237-8289 in the U.S. or 1-866-237-8289 in Canada to schedule in-home service.

Wide black area top of the screen.

More than likely it's not the crt. If the picture has "foldover" at the top of where the picture is currently, then more than likely there are bad caps. in the vertical scan circuit. If not, the vertical sizing probably just needs to be adjusted. You will have to get in to the service menu to do that.

This problem indicates a defective vertical IC or dry solder joints on the IC connections.

Standard CRT Toshiba TV - 4inch tall picture in middle of screen...

Hi,

Not familiar with your actual model.

But a comon problem with older Tosh sets is the 2.2uf electrolytic caps from memory they are usually red there is 1 next to frame Ic & the second is near Psu.

Allso check frame o/p IC for dry solder joints this is easy to test for.

Tap the tv while it is on if the the frame suddenly pop to full size picture you know its dry joints so resolder frame IC.

Picture tube doesn't seem to stay in place (standard tv)

A very good chance this tv was dropped or bumped. Sounds like the internal plastic frame is broken and will not support the picture tube. Find someone with tv experience to fix this. I would suggest they use a putty found at an auto parts store. To glue the tube and the frame together. This putty is in a plastic tube. You tear off a piece and fold it several times to activate. It will surely do the job.
