I'm trying to remove the fork covers in my efforts to install a light bar. I have removed the two allen screws on the lower cover but am still unable to remove it. Seems like it should just slide right...

Both upper and lower fork tree has a bolt that clamps the fork to the tree. Some times you have to remove the top plug to get them to slide down threw the tree.

I put new batteries in my RICOH Caplio RR660 and the power light flickered, the zoom lens came out and then it just stopped. Why? I have asked about it being repaired but been advised to just buy new?

Your problem may be due to corrosion on the battery contacts inside the camera which can prevent the full power of the batteries from flowing into the camera. Try this free fix before you do anything else: remove the batteries and wipe the camera contacts firmly with a dry cloth (heavy corrosion may require cleaning with a wire brush, steel wool, or sandpaper). Remove any residue that may have fallen into the battery compartment during cleaning, then wipe both ends of the batteries and place them back in the camera. This cleaning clears the problem about 90% of the time. If it doesn't work for you, the camera may have a problem that requires professional repair.

In the picture viewing mode of your menu, look for an entry for "copy". It should provide you with the option to copy from the internal memory to the camera card.
