I have virus on my commputer and the computer will not allow me to install norton's anti virus, will not accept the license key

Run the Norton Removal Tool to remove your Norton Anti Virus:

And then install Norton Anti Virus 2011 and activate it with your 2008 Product Key:

When you say you have problems with a lot of Virus then install in safe mode and do there a full scan.

You will need to visit Norton's website to obtain a legal key. You may as well update to the newest version if you purchase. The license run yearly on all anti-virus products.

I would like to suggest a totally free and really good anti-virus that would help you out. It is called IOBIT and can be found here. If you decide to go with any other (including my suggestion) anti-virus, be sure and removed the old Norton 2008 from your computer first before installing the other. Two anti-viruses can cause havoc on one machine.

i hope you got norton off your system before putting AVG free on. Virus programs try to fight off other virus programs by postiong false virus claims to erase the other program. eventually they will kill your hard drive. You need a product key for a good virus protectant. Norton or CA offer good, reliable protection for your dollar. What i would do, is back up any really important stuff you have there, format your hard drive and install Vista again if you have the disc and then re-install it to permanetly delete viruses. Also your system maybe slow because VIsta needs at least a dual core processor and 2 GB RAM to work like a XP machine

If you have purchased a copy of norton, your license key will still work regardless of whether you remove it or not as long as you have it registered on symantec.com.
Reinstall and update it and see if that fixes the problem.  Sometimes Norton doesn't detect everything believe it or not.  I had a similar problem when I was using Norton a few years ago so I changed to McAfee and I didn't have a problem anymore.  The malware went away as well.

Your version Norton Anti Virus has to have a license key to work with more than one computer.

Does SBCglobal (or AT&T) allow their customers to download Norton Anti Virus from thier website?

I know Comcast and Cox does something similar with McAfee.
