Philips Problem Hey, Saw your post on here that you worked for philips at one point. Im having problems with a Philips 42PFP5332D/37 May 2007 Serial ending in 1033.. Here is the problem, the set worked and then one day wouldnt display any video, but the sound works. I dont get a PS error fault with the relays and all voltages on the PS are holding at the correct levels. There really isnt a sound from the PS until I hit the menu button, then I start to here the Zsus and XY's buzzing a little bit. I replaced all caps on the hot side of the PS and checked for shorts in the diodes, fets and caps on the driver boards and PS and found nothing. The last thing that I tried was a update of the FW via usb and as far as I can tell, it took, but no way of knowing since I cant get anything on the display.. The display itself when powered on dosent even glow, so I dont know if the logic boards control the startup of the side boards or what, but if you have any advice for me that would be great. Im pretty good about finding these things, but this one has me stumped. Ready to tap in to the buss line and see whats going on. Oh, and how do you uses the alarm board. Thanks, Greg

If your missing picture but have audio and is not shutting down one thing you would want to isolate is ssb by removing ssb and placing in unit in white screen mode by jumping connectors on logic board. usually pins 3 and 4 of cn2007. if you get white rastor you'll know panel is ok and ssb is where issue is. micro is on that board. that being said you referenced buzzing coming from x and y sustain. verify after warm up that heat syncs are getting warm verifying boards are operating correctly. normal operation also for logic board is one solid and one blinking led. the blinking led is data flow led and if not blinking is most likely a sign that failure is with logic board

Quietly watching tv, then a pop, a buzz and a crack on the screen

Yes,if the screen cracked from the inside of the panel and not the outside, you are entitled to either a replacement or warrantied repair. That was caused by heat and we have serviced heat related manufacturer design flaws. Unfortunatly,it is out of warranty, but if it was caused through normal use and not user error,a technician will have to confirm it was internal cracks. MAKE SURE you call philips for an authorized servicer and have the reference number on hand, model number, and serial number.
