Re: The screen on my dlp 62 in is kind of flashing and...
Yes your excatly right. Most manufacturers made it very easy to change the bulbs so dont fret you can probably get one for $100 - $200 dollars if you look good enough and Bam your TV is like new.
My tv is exactly same but bought a bulb and it still flashed and the color was way off..got progressively worse and now shuts off after a few minutes of having it on. Ballast or color wheel maybe? My tv is exactly same but bought a bulb and it still flashed and the color was way off..got progressively worse and now shuts off after a few minutes of having it on. Check ur owner manual or call Philip support Tech. ask it this tv model have a colors wheel design into it tv.Not sure for a Philip model tv 50" DLP tv,but the Samsung model 50" DLP tv this problems alway causes by a dying colors wheel that design into it tv.Which the colors wheel it is warp worn out and spinning off of it motor mount axis to cause grinding noises and tv colors to mess up and flashes or have flashes Black & White within it picture.
Most likely, you need to replace your DLP bulb. The one that comes with your TV will last a few years max. The replacements seem to only last about a year. D:
If you hear any winding, whirling or screeching noise (Color Wheel symptoms) If there is any vibrations in the TV (Color Wheel symptoms) you would need to change the color wheel.
i have had this happen to me several times in the field, and if it is what i think it is, you are not going to be happy =(
inside of a DLP type TV, there is a device called a 'color wheel'... it is essentially a disc made up of different colored glass that spins really fast. this disc has 3 or 6 (depending on make/model) pieces of colored glass like pieces of a pie affixed (read: glued) to a hub.
what happens sometimes is that one of the pieces of colored glass flys out of the hub, and causes a massive unbalance in the spinning wheel, which causes the hum/vibration, and since the colored glass is missing, the colors will be all messed up.
if this is what happened, then your television will require a new DLP engine.
Greg,
I had the light engine on my Toshiba 52HM95 fail. Sent it to a company Tri State Modules for repair. Got it back as good as new for $249.00. Goto tristatemodule.com. I hope this helps.
