Has the laptop been damaged? Dropped? Same on battery? Remove battery, try AC only. Try another cord/charger with the EXACT same power specs. Reseat Memory mods. Test the DC volt output, at the laptop plug in, with a multimeter. Power issues are difficult to diagnose long distance.
The green light indicates that the power supply is standby, if you press power botton and PC doesn't turn on, the simplest failure could be a defective power botton, also at the worst case you could have a defective power supply or motherboard.
Get yourself a new one with new power supply new quad core new hard one terra evething new for a few dollars time change computers are something very different nowadays nothing to do with 10 years old machines....enjoy todazy life is not forever...;
remove your RAM and processor.......then turn on ur PC...it will gave you different beeps...then again install ur RAM and processor... ur problem will solved
boot your computer in safe mode and in display properties>Screensaver>Power tab>Advance>
"When i press the power botton on my computer " select "do nothing" and " when i press the sleep botton on my computer " select "do nothing"......
then press ok and apply then restart your computer in normal mode it will work
