Question about Belkin (F5D7231-4) Wireless Router

1 Answer

No wireless signal

Hi, I have a belkin wireless N router with MIMO, and for the first two weeks, it seemed to work fine. My laptop and my dad's laptop could connect to it without trouble, but within the past few days here I've noticed I can no longer connect to the wireless signal. I went to the router itself and found that the wireless signal was not even being broadcast. I tried accessing the routers page directly through firefox, but I can't for the life of me remember what the IP is. My last router had an unusual IP, and I haven't yet memorized this one.

I am running Fedora 9, but also experienced this problem with Ubuntu 8.04. The router's wireless signal won't even appear under the available networks, and when I try to manually connect it to the signal, it doesn't work. I also noticed the passkey was being changed from ASCII to Hex, and regardless of what I did (even as root), nothing seems to fix this problem.

My dad's laptop is running Windows XP, and seems to be connecting fine. I will not switch back to windows under any circumstances, I just want my wireless signal back. If anyone can help me with this, it would be much appreciated.

Most home router has an IP address of 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.2.1. If you dad's laptop can connect to the router just fine, then it's a problem with your linux laptop. Can you see other wireless networks on your laptop?

Wireless connection

Access the routers admin page with the hardwired pc.  http://*gateway*  right click network status on pc and get gateway.  Google the model you have for the default passwords.  Setup your wifi security then do the same to your laptop and attempt to connect again.  Bad settings somewhere.

Belkin Wireless G Plus MIMO (F5D9230-4)

hello!

normally, if you configure the wireless security settings wirelessly, it will automatically disconnect you from the network. you have to input the security key on the laptop first before it connects you back to the network.

i suggest, if you really like to configure the settings of your router, get an ethernet cable, connect it directly to the laptop so you can access and configure the router settings and to avoid from being disconnected

Belkin Mimo Router

If you're connected to the router with excellent stregth then the problem most likly lies in the routers connection to the internet. Check your DSL, Cable modem and make sure the connection to the "Internet" port on your router is good. Try switching out the Ethernet cable if nessciary.
