Question about Meade DS-2114 ATS (325 x 114mm) Telescope

Azmouth axle (lower mounting) broken off base

I would like to repair the base of my DS-2114 mount! The verticle shaft of the AZ mount has fractured. I am proposing the use of a metal filled epoxy and a long 3/8-24 bolt to hold the casting together. I then propose drilling and threading four holes through the bottom of the casting and into the verticle shaft as a perminent fix.
Has anyone had this same problem with a 2114 base?
Thanks,
Fred

I have done this on another DS mounting as a deliberate modification. In your case I would see if I could get a replacment as it might cost less assuming your time is worth anything. In my case I made a modification and I cut the casting web which I suspect is what broke on yours. Either you had it knocked over or you trie to mount too much weight??? Anyway since yours is a break the precision of the repaire would be in question so geting a repair part would be my first inquiry. Otherwise your fix will be similiar to my modification which was successful!
Best,
Rick

Meade DS 2000 Goto Reflector scope. I am looking for the base goto motor assembly housing witch houses the motor and gears. Can anybody please help?

You cannot actually get parts for this scope other than from Meade directly-- and possibly a USED motor on Ebay. Usually Meade wants you to send in the scope for repair and will not sell you any gears or motors.

You can send this into Meade for repairs.

Or you can disassemble the base and look inside. I suspect you have either a loose or broken worm gear inside the base. There are manuals available on the Meade web site but they do not give any disassembly instructions. Call Meade at the phone number above or try taking apart the base and look inside. Only Meade will have replacement parts.

My telescope with autostar will slew up and down but not from side to side.

Sometimes this can be caused by:

A bad hand controller cable

A bad hand controller

Broken gears inside

Try to look inside the base for something broken and try a new cable which is cheap. If it's a broken gear, or a burned out circuit board you will need to return it to Meade for repair.

No one will have that exact part. However you may find something that might work at a well stocked hard ware store; as a last resort you can but a new mount for the telescope.

Could be anything from a bad hand controller cable, LOW battery power, or a blown out hand controller.

Check the cable and the batteries first.

Motor unit fault DS 2000

Continual motor faults simple mean something is broken inside the telescope--- motors, or gears--- something is preventing the motor from turning the telescope.

Time to either take it back and get a replacement... or send it in for repairs.

Meade 2114 i think my mirrors are out of adjustment

yes they can. in fact with this type of scope it is a routine adjustment. the adjustment you asking about is called collumation. it is the allignment of the optical components. there is a tool for doing this it uses a laser mounted in the eyepiece holder. the adjustment is a combination of screw adjustments on the primary and secondary mirrors. if this all sounds complicated its not. without the tool. if you remove the eyepiece and look in the tube if all the images are concentric your set, if not make some adjustments and recheck.
