The TV in our RV turned off on it's own. Now we can't get it to turn on. Using the remote or on the TV itself, we still get nothing. The red light that usually comes on as we turn it on doesn't come on. The TV is basically built into the RV, and it would be extremely difficult to remove it, so I wanted to check what to do first before I removed it. Thank you.

Re: Audiovox AVT2540 won't turn on
The only possible check that could be done without removing/opening the Audiovox TV would be to check for the presence/absence of supply power/voltage depending on how the TV is powered (12VDC or 120 VAC). Normally, there would be an fuse and/or circuit breakers.for the RV's entertainment system including the TV.
The 120-volt circuit breakers and 12-volt
fuses are located in the same compartment. These devices interrupt the power if
the circuit is overloaded. The 120-volt circuit breakers include a 30
amp main breaker and several smaller breakers for individual circuits. If a
circuit breaker is tripped, look for an overload on the circuit, then reset it
by turning the breaker OFF and then turning it ON. Do not try to reset a breaker
the second time without locating the overload problem. The 12-volt fuses protect
individual circuits. If the circuit is overloaded, it will blow the fuse and the
fuse must be replaced. Check the circuit for an overload and replace the fuse
with the same type or amperage rating.
If the above checks out, then problem is internal to the unit and would require removal from its current position.
Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

If you are using the original remote control, do the following to unlock it.
Most RCA TV sets use a four digit code to control the v-chip. The code reset is different depending on the model. Try each number until you find the one that works for you.
Hold down the MENU button on the remote and VOLUME DOWN button on the TV it's self at the same time for at least 4 seconds. The set won't say so, but the lock will be unlocked
Hold down the 0 (zero) button on the remote and the VOLUME DOWN button on the TV itself at the same time for at least 4 seconds. The set won't say so, but the lock will be unlocked
Hold down the MENU button on the front of the TV and the TV button on the remote at the same time for at least 4 seconds. 4- Hold down GO BACK button on the remote and MENU button on the front of the TV at the same time for at least 4 seconds.
Hold down EJECT button on the front of the TV set and the MENU button on the remote at the same time for at least 4 seconds. Depending on the model, one of the methods should unlock the V-chip. Unless you are using an external antenna, it makes no difference. If you have cable, satellite service or FIOS, you are not efected. Only sets that depend on the over-air transmissions will be effected.
First of all, forget about the remote and see if the TV functions normally using the buttons on the front of the set itself. If the TV will not power on with the power button on the set itself, then something is wrong inside the TV. If the set works fine from the front buttons but no longer responds to that remote, then the remote has either gone bad or was accidently set to a different brand. In this case, look for the original book that came with the remote (or TV if it is the original remote) and follow the instructions for setting the remote back to Zenith. Try that and post your results here.
