HELLO, i have a new toshiba with vista install. I'm pluging the mic, and it records but you can not hear anything coming out to the speakers when you are talking through the mic. I went to sounds,Speakers, playback, levels, but it only shows the levels of the speakers but not the mic.
same in the levels of the microphone icon. I don't know what else to do.
thank you in advance for your help.

u must also install the driver of the mic and even if it doesnot work the problem is in mic and if the driver is installed u must go to the hardware selection and there u must select the mic which u want to use.............
If you will have installed card reader or any sound driver you are to be able to operate it.But you had already been installed so the problem is in your mic.The problem is dust.Dust must be the problem.
Even though you say you did not mess with the settings, I'd suggest you check the audio recoding settings in Vista anyway. Better make sure all those are correct.
If you are using an internal microphone, I'd suggest trying an external one (if you already have that, try a different one). Even a webcam with built in mic will do. That way you can isolate the cause. Based on my experience I'd say that chances are bugger that it is a loose contact, so make sure to check your plug if it's an external mic.
Do you Have Any settings Via Control Panel Or Similar, to check to see if the mic isn,t Muted ?
I,m not too up on Vista but have experience With 95/98/2000 And XP.
I,d also assume that there is Troubleshooting facility with Vista.
Also Is the microphone plugged into the correct Jack/Socket ?
