1 Answer

System restore ok this is my problem my laptop is kind of old and i used it when i went to kent boarding school and i need to acess my administrator account but i forgot the passord, so i was going to do system restore to see if it can delete everything, including the passswords and the users, to try and just start all over but when i go to my control panel i dont see anything that leads me into system restore. I also tried to download limewire and it told me i dont have the proper privligies and i think it is because i am not under administartive account. So i was wondering if you can guide me through that ASAP!!!!!!!!!! Thank You!

Hi, if its windows xp, when you switch on the pc keep press f8 when menu appears go into safe mode, once in safe mode, select administrator if it lets you in there goto control panel, user accounts and remove password on other accounts,
if it comes up password for administrator its locked, a system restore wont remove the password.
but there is software for like £5 in ebay that removes it by booting from the cd..

Hope it helps

School blocks

Mmmmmmmmm, NO

A) The administrator is the owner of the laptop, or a designated individual. The school has such a person designated, and it isn't you.
That person has the administrative rights in adding, or replacing software, and possibly hardware.

B) IF you should by chance break into the laptop, and change ANY administrative settings, the school will find out.
Depends on their policy as to what they wish to do.

Most of the time it is remove the laptop from the student - FOREVER, and possibly school set punishment.

Need a laptop that isn't blocked?

USE YOUR OWN

Away from school

There are two basic ways to restore Acer 5315 PC Notebook to the original setting. The first method you can try to pressing the key Alt + F10 for 5 times while startup process appears on the Acer screen. Usually this way will restore the original setting automatically.
And the next method you may need to use system restore at the first time you’ve got your Acer 5315 laptop. Here are steps to follow:
Log on as the Administrator => Start => All Programs => Accessories => System Tools => and click the System Restore. System restore will run and here you should see the Welcome System Restore page appear. Click Restore my computer button to an early time if it’s not already
selected. Click next to continue the steps.
There is on your Acer 5315 laptop screen a Restore Point page appear, you can select it and then click the most recent system checkpoint it, click a restore point list. After you click the Next button,System Restore message may appear that lists configuration changes that
System Restore will create. Click OK.
For the last step click next button on the Confirm Restore PointSelection page. Now the ‘System Restore’ will restore the previous Windows XP configuration on your Acer 5315 OS system. Just finish it by restarts your Acer laptop.
Now log on again to your Acer 5315 PC Notebook as Administrator and watch the System Restore Restoration Complete page appears. Click OK.

Forogt My XP Username Password! Cant Log In!

I've heard that Microsoft discontinued the password recovery program for Windows XP but you might want to go to Microsoft.com and search for "windows XP recovery program". If you didn't remove or change the original admistrator name out of the computer, you might be able to get in that way simply by typing in administrator and leave the password blank. Then you can reset it to whatever you need to.

Otherwise if those solutions don't work, then you might have to restore windows to get it to reset it back to factory default.
