SOURCE: hi, I've got 2 eeepcs, with identical problems,

When the RH side of the keboard types numbers instead of letters then the Num Lock (number lock) key has been pressed.
Press the Num Lock Key again to return to letters again, usually this is usually done by pressing the Fn key plus and probably the Scroll keys, this key will be also marked NumLk, and there will be a LED light that will indicate when the number lock is on.

Left side of keyboard 123456789 is not working

Do you mean the right side of the keyboard is typing numbers instead of letters?
If so, you have enabled the NumLk which turns the RHS of the keyboard into the number pad.
Press the NumLk key near F11, F12 function key and the NumLk LED will switch off and return your RH keys back to letters.

My computer keyboard is typing numbers instead of letters.. any suggestions on how to fix it

This is because most notebook keyboards have a number pad incorporated into the right-hand side of the keyboard. Numbers are being typed because the NumLock is active.
To disable this function press the NumLock key (might be marked NumLock or have a symbol that looks like a calculator on it) on the keyboard (you might need to press the Fn function key and the NumLock simultaneously).

Letters are typing as numbers

one of the F keys turns certain keys on the right side to number keys, so it can act like a full size keyboard with the 10 key panel on the right.. Look carefully at the F keys to determine which one it is. Or consult the manual.

Ibm thinkpad keyboard right side is #'s not letters

Hi,
You have accidentally turned on the "Num Lock", all you have to do is hit the Num Lock key to return the keyboard to normal, it is located at the top right hand side of the keyboard.

Keyboard error

Look for a Num Lock button on the keyboard, press that and then check to see if its still going to give you numbers. If it still does, press it again.
