Question about Brother MFC-5840CN All-In-One InkJet Printer

1 Answer

It can't **** in glossy photo card stock without slipping...

...and saying there's a paper jam. So I open the top, pull the sheet out from the paper tray (because I can't yet see it in the open top) and close the top. Keeps slipping. How do I find the rollers that grab the paper and keep them from slipping on the sheet?

Translation: glossy photo paper slips, creating paper jam alert. Need to find rollers and figure out what to do to them to make them grip paper better.

I learnt my lesson the hard way, by paying for three of these stupid machines!!

I have realised Brother printers are so cheap, because they're not actually designed very well and hence fall apart all too easily!!

My advice, go for either Lexmark or HP, they mayy cost a little more but they last a lot longer (you pay for it one way or the other!!!)

Paper not feeding for epson nx400

Check the following:

  • If paper doesn't feed, remove it from the sheet feeder. Reload it against the right side, behind the tab, then press in the tab on the edge guide and slide it against the paper. Make sure the paper is not above the arrow mark inside the edge guide.

  • If multiple pages feed at once, remove the paper from the sheet feeder, fan the edges to separate the sheets, then reload it.

  • If the paper doesn't eject fully, you may have set the wrong paper size. Press the c:\users\home\appdata\local\temp\msohtmlclip1\01\clip_image001.gif Stop button, then open the scanner and remove the paper. Select the correct paper size when you reprint.

  • If it's wrinkled when it ejects, the paper may be damp or too thin. Load new paper.

  • Make sure you use new, smooth, high-quality paper, that is not curled, creased, old, or too thin. Make sure to load it printable side up.

  • Do not load paper with holes punched in it for insertion in a binder.

  • Make sure you load only up to the recommended number of sheets. If you're printing on both sides of the paper, try loading fewer sheets.

If the paper jams, do the following:

1. Gently pull any jammed paper out from the output tray or sheet feeder.

2. To eject the jammed paper, try turning the Epson Stylus NX400 off and then back on.

If that doesn't work and paper is stuck inside, turn off the Epson Stylus NX400. Open the scanner, remove the jammed paper and torn pieces, close the scanner, and turn the Epson Stylus NX400 back on.

Photo Paper keeps jamming

It's the top rollers, the paper is too slick to get through them. I'm using HP photo paper, in an HP printer. It needs to do a 180, but gets jammed right where it prints, so the paper never makes it to the ink. It's an engineering problem by HP. I suggest putting a rough surface on the top edge of the photo paper, something removable but rough enough for the printer to pull the photo paper through.

HP 5610v states 'paper jam' and there isn't one - how to reset?

Normal 0 I suggest you get a sheet of Card Stock (Heavy paper) and place it in the feed way. Then press the print button applying a slight amount of pressure on the Card Stock so it will feed through the printer. The reason for this, is in some cases I have been able to clear the paper track of debris that was deposited there over time.
Worth a try, as I have fixed a number of printers this way, saving costly repairs.
Hope this helps. Bud

Canon mp180 paper jammed

I finally fixed the problem by running two sheets of heavy card stock through at the same time. With the machine off, I positioned the two sheets in the feeder so that they would be pulled in when the printer was turned on. When I turned on the printer, it drew the two sheets through and I guess this reset the paper sensor. I previously found that only one sheet at a time did't work.
I found this solution posted by JsamJr answering another question but it worked for me. pushing the card in and then removing it and pressing ok worked
