Is it restarting in a continuous loop or does it try to turn on and shut off completely? If it's restarting press f8 at the post screen and choose disable automatic restart on system failure. A blue screen may appear. I'll be waiting for your response.

Likely the hard drive's master boot record has become corrupted during the unexpected shutdown. You need to boot with your windows xp cd, select R on the first screen for the repair console and run a chkdsk /f to fix the drive. This works most of the time.

Thanks and please take a moment to rate as FixYa. Thank you.

Check the cabinet temperature with an independent thermometer. If it is does keep a stable temperature the problem would probably be electronic.

A power outage is often accompanied by a voltage surge. Sensitive electronics and computers can be damaged by a voltage surge. People are used to protecting personal computers with surge protectors but fail to realise these days almost everything is a computer or contains a computer. Radios and tv sets are computers and so are cars and even the humble toaster these days has some computing power.
Today almost everything but the cheapest of appliances should be protected. A minimum surge protection can be obtained by using an area surge protector.

Is my mother board fried if my power supply smells burnt?

You can always try the system with a working power supply.

These are available on eBay and one vendor's documentation says it is an ATX power supply. If you have one an ATX supply pop it in and give it a try. If it works, great, if not I hope you can recover files from the hard drive.

I still have several UPS systems from an old business. They protected me during Hurricane Leslie. Our hydro was up and down like a tart's knickers and so far I have found no damage. These are not expensive and I especially like to keep my cable modem and routers on them. With my laptops sometimes I can see the Newfoundland Power outages page and know how long the issue will last,

LG monitor not powering up after power outage

This not a good sign, in almost most cases it was not cost effective repair, cheaper to replace in the long run. When your hydro came back on it caused a power surge damaging the power supply board, and following into the main module and possibly the inverter board.

Not powering on after power outage

Sometimes after a power outage, some power supplies can take a hit but will not provide the needed voltage to operate your pc. In this case you should replace the power supply. For future protection, connect your pc to a power strip or power source with surge protection. This will range in price from $7 to hundreds depending on how much you need to protect and your budget.

Good Luck

After a momentary power outage Panasonic LCD TV has a flashing red light and will not turn on.

Try using a different outlet, the outlet or the tv may have been damaged in the surge. In the case of the tv contact the manufacturer and see if it's still under warranty. There may also be a way to 'reset' the tv by holding the power button down, try looking in the manual or calling customer support. In the future use a surge protector, many of today's electronics are still sensitive to power surges, older tv's were more resilliant than today's in this regard.
