Is it restarting in a continuous loop or does it try to turn on and shut off completely? If it's restarting press f8 at the post screen and choose disable automatic restart on system failure. A blue screen may appear. I'll be waiting for your response.

Likely the hard drive's master boot record has become corrupted during the unexpected shutdown. You need to boot with your windows xp cd, select R on the first screen for the repair console and run a chkdsk /f to fix the drive. This works most of the time.

Thanks and please take a moment to rate as FixYa. Thank you.

Computer wont turn back on after power outage

Power surges are like Radiation poisoning: the effects are cumulative. You need to have it on a Surge Protector (not just a power strip with an over-amp cutout,) that is AT LEAST 1200 Joules. Much higher if you live in a lighting-prone area, or are subject to frequent power-outages. Your Power Supply Unit appears to be on the edge of failing. I suggest you get it replaced IMMEDIATELY. A PSU with issues such as yours have been known to damage one or more of the other components inside your PC when it finally dies.....like the Hard drive, or a Memory module...even the CPU.

Power to house went out during area power outage. Everything came back on except the computer? Tries to restart by holding power switch in, unplugged and replugged power cord - no response on monitor. ...

When the power is returned after a power outage it can cause a power surge and damage electronic equipment such as a computer. This is a reason to install a surge protection power board and connect your computer equipment to a surge protection board.
The switch mode power supply may be faulty and replacing it may get your computer operating again.
If you cannot DIY then ask a friend or take it to a computer repair shop.

Hi there, pls help I have problem with this. Power not come at all..it was working fine till the we had a power outage then while the computer was on then the outage went back on my monitor just didnt work...

Hello derick, Unfortunately power surges have been known to have some pretty nasty effects on your computer hardware. If you turn on your power (may have to toggle the power button behind your computer before pressing the button, worth trying in each position just in case) and your computer doesn't come on at all. This means that if none of your lights come on AND none of your fans come on, then your power supply may have blown out in the surge. If this is the case then you can't even begin to try and diagnose the rest of your PC to see if it's working. You need power to attempt diagnostics on your other components. Even if you replace the power supply, there is no guarantee that it was the only thing that was ruined by the surge. I hope this helps you out derick, and wish you better luck in the future :(

LG monitor not powering up after power outage

This not a good sign, in almost most cases it was not cost effective repair, cheaper to replace in the long run. When your hydro came back on it caused a power surge damaging the power supply board, and following into the main module and possibly the inverter board.

Not powering on after power outage

Hello,

Sometimes after a power outage, some power supplies can take a hit but will not provide the needed voltage to operate your pc. In this case you should replace the power supply. For future protection, connect your pc to a power strip or power source with surge protection. This will range in price from $7 to hundreds depending on how much you need to protect and your budget.

Good Luck

Power outage, now pc will not power up at all

OK FIRST A POWER SURGE PROTECTOR WILL ONLY PROTECT YOU 7 % OF THE TIME, WHICH YOU JUST REALIZED. SO YOU NEED TO BUY A BATTERY BACKUP ALSO KNOWN AS A UPS.... I CANNOT STRESS THIS ENOUGH. BRING YOUR PC TO BEST BUY AND THEY WILL TEST YOUR POWER SUPPLY, IF IT TESTS OUT OK THEN YOU BLEW SOMETHING IN YOUR MOTHERBOARD. GET A BATTERY BACKUPS/UPS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
