Question about Lexmark Printers & Copiers

Lexmark X83 says 'Cartridge short press power key'. I've pressed buttons, checked cartridge, turned off and restarted. What next?

Hi

have you replaced the ink cartridge prior to getting that error message? if so, you could have probably knocked out the encoder strip and need to relocate it. you can also try to use a water-moistened cotton swabs to gently clean the encoder strip.

i was not able to get a picture for lexmark but i hope this'll give you the idea on where to locate the encoder strip.

Try changing the cartridge, the lexmark cartridge contains a smart chip inside to actually record ink levels amoung other things, it is possible that it could be damaged,, another possibility is dirty contact points ,, inspect where the cartridge fits in the carriage in the printer,, there are some copper contact points there, try cleaning it with alcohol / menthylated spirit and a soft cloth.

Remove the carts. restart, let it run for a moment without carts, place the carts back in, restart. and how is it now?

Message reads "cartridge short press power key"


The error indicates that one or both of the cartridges has a short circuit. Please follow the steps below to identify and fix the problem:

1. Make sure the printer is on.

2. Open the printer cover. The print cartridge carrier moves and stops at the loading position, unless the All-in-One is busy.

Note: If the carrier does not automatically move to the center, turn off the printer/unplug the printer from the power source and then slide the carrier to the center.

3. Remove both cartridges from the carrier.

4. Close the printer cover.

5. Rebrick (pull out power supply, black box where the power cord is plugged in at the back of the printer, and put it back after 30 seconds).

6. When the printer turns on, reinsert one cartridge first.

7. Close the printer cover and check for any errors.

8. If no error appears, reinsert the other cartridge. Close the printer cover.

9. Replace whichever cartridge is causing the error to appear with a new cartridge.
If problem continues, please contact Lexmark Technical Support Center for additional assistance.

Hi I have error 1203 on my lexmark P4350 printer can you help


Error 1203 on a Lexmark printer indicates that the printer cartridge has a short circuit. Lexmark recommends that you resolve the issue as follows:

1. Press Power to turn your All-In-One off.
2. Unplug your All-In-One from the wall outlet.
3. Plug in your All-In-One.
4. Reinstall the cartridges.

If this does not resolve the problem, replace your cartridges to fix the problem.
Also, try cleaning the contacts where the cartridge plugs in. Could be a short there or on/in the cartridge itself.

I installed new color and black ink cartridges and keep getting: color cartridge short. Press power key. Hence, the printer will not work.


It could be a "short-circuit" type of electronic problem inside the colour cartridge.
Turn the printer off.
Remove the colour cartridge.
Purchase a new colour cartridge.
Insert it.
Turn the printer on.
If you still get the error, take the printer to a qualified technician.

Error 1203


hi..

error 1203 means either or both cartridges have short circuited and needs replacement..

You will need to perform the following steps to find out which cartridge is defective:


1. With the printer turned ON, open the front cover and remove both cartridges from the printer.
2. Power the printer OFF and unplug the power cable for 30 seconds. Plug the power cable back in and turn ON the printer.
3. If the error message is now cleared from the printer, please perform the "Self-Test" by following the steps below:
{
1. Make sure the printer is in “Copy Mode.”
2. Press the “Menu” button once.
3. The screen will display “Copy Menu: Copies”.
4. Press the left arrow button once. The screen will display “Copy Menu: Tools”.
5. Press the check button once. The screen with read “Tools: Maintenance”.
6. Press the check button once. The screen with read “Maintenance: Ink Levels”.
7. Press the right arrow button until the screen reads “Maintenance: Print Test Page”.
8. Press the check button once. This will start the Self-Test. Once the page has printed, the printer will stop. The test is not continuous.

If the printer has detected a "Cartridge Missing" error, then please follow the steps given below:

1. Turn the power OFF.
2. Open the front cover.
3. Turn the power back ON. The print cartridge carrier should move to the install position located in the middle of the printer. If it does not, close and reopen the cover:
4. Reseat both cartridges in the printer and check for the error.
5. If the error still displays, then remove the color print cartridge.
6. Close the cover.
7. If there is no error indicated by flashing lights, the color cartridge has short-circuited.
8. However, if you continue to get an error, repeat steps 1-3, and then go to step 9.
9. Remove the black print cartridge and reinsert the color cartridge.
10. If there is no error indicated by flashing lights, the black cartridge has short-circuited.
11. If you continue to receive an error in both cartridge scenarios, both print cartridges have short-circuited.

Carrier Stall is the error


Hi,
Please do the following..

To check the cartridge carrier:
  1. Unplug the printer.
  2. Move the cartridges to the left by hand and then take them out.
  3. Try to print without the cartridges in the carrier. Do you still receive a Carrier Stall error message?
  4. If not, put the cartridges back into the carrier and snap them in at the back. The message should no longer appear.
If the power light on the printer is not blinking, the error message may be caused by a communication error. Do the following:
  1. Remove any other devices attached to the USB/LPT port.
  2. Uninstall the Lexmark printer.
  3. Connect the printer directly to the PC and ensure that power is being supplied to the printer.
  4. Reinstall the printer.

Printer problem


Hi I went to lexmark.com and they told me to unplug usb and power cord. wait 30 seconds. replug, press menu button until manitenance shows up and select. go to self test, select. it should print something. if not take out cartridges and redo steps. it did work for me

Will not print


Go to print. Prinrt comand comes up just fine. Press ok and nothing. Document pending is all I get. Printer seems to be ready but goes into power save waiting for next comand,
