Distorted sound playing music from Youtube or BBC Iplayer

First off, most Youtube videos have bad sound but most likely is you need to lower the volume for FLASH via the sound mixer. Both are using flash. Turn down the volume for flash videos. You also have volume control with the video themselves.

Look for the Volume Mixer icon on the bottom right of your screen in the toolbar near the time. It may be hidden so click the "
If the Volume Mixer icon is not there, go to the Start Menu then click the icon for Control Panel. In the Control Panel window, select Sounds and Audio devices. Once in the settings for Sounds and Audio devices, there should be a checkbox for the option to "Place Volume Icon in the Taskbar." If no checkmark is there, click the box and then click on "OK". Now the Volume Mixer icon should appear in the taskbar.
Proceed by clicking this icon to launch the control panel for Volume Mixer. From here, you can change the volume settings for your computer and specific programs. Be sure to adjust the Master Volume setting.

Sound problem

Hello....
No Sound, No Volume Control, Mixer not Found, No Sound device installed…etc etc, This is a generic issue with all Windows OS updates....many of the users are facing this issue....this issue began after an auto update from MS changed many IRQs of Win OS, mainly the Sound and Audio Control system of Windows.
1 - R U facing NO Audio / No Sound issue...?
2 - Is ur Volume Control not responding ?
3 - Is ur Sound and Audio Device in Control Panel Grayed out ?
4 - Do u get a msg "No Active Mixer Devices Installed....when u try to open Volume Ctrl etc etc ?

If ur ans to any one of them is Yes...then u are being spammed by Microsoft....as ur Sound Control IRQ is being frozen by a recent update from Microsoft....

NOTE..THIS…IS…VERY..IMPORTANT...
No file update or any sound driver update can fix it, neither Microsoft is issuing any patch to fix it…or giving any help on this.
Full solution is available in my website (Support page)...it's quite simple process to fix it, and I am not charging any money, just trying to do some service and help everyone affected by this stupidity from Microsoft.

Where can I download a mixer device

Unless they are USB speakers they would not need a mixer or drivers device.

Plug in ONLY the regular wired speakers and ONLY to the green port on the back.

Make sure they are powered up and the volume is about half way.
OK now you need to call up ether the sound card application or preferably the windows volume control from the bottom tool-bar.

Click Open Volume Control.

A box with sliders in should appear. make sure that volume control, wave, sw synth, aux, cd player, line in
are all about half way and that none of them have ticks in the box at the bottom.

If any of those are missing click options then properties from the top left and put a tick besides any that were missing (nothing else)

Now close the slider box.

Put a normal music CD in your CD/DVD player on the computer and set it to play with windows media player.

You should now have sound out of the speakers.

Double check again and make sure it all works.

If you still have any problems check your hardware list and make sure thee are no exclamation marks by any sound hardware (excl. speakers)

These need to be sorted out first. for that you need to know what your sound card is and download the drivers (or update them)

Sound Device not working but everything seems to be installed and working

you might want to try going into the bios of your computer (usually pressing delete when your computer first comes on) and looking in there to make sure your sound device is turned on.

There are no active mixer devices

Sounds like you might just need the drivers restored for your sound card.

Try downloading the driver for the sound card by clickingon this link

http://support.dell.com/support/topics/global.aspx/support/downloads/en/downloads_splash?c=us&l=en&s=gen&~mode=popup&file=57707

If that doesnt fix it you migh have the device disabled in the bios.
Try the drivers first then let me know if it works and we will go from there

Hi,

Try re-installing the Sound Device Driver, you can download the driver here.

There is no sound

Plug the speakers into the green connector first of all.

Make sure the speakers/amplifier are working on another source.

Since you have the volume control on your systray (it is there, right?), you do have an audio card installed (or integrated one at least).

You might try this forum also to troubleshoot the error message about there being no mixer device:

http://forums.techarena.in/showthread.php?t=44823

This has to do with a WinXP WIndows Update perhaps.
