Hold the inner tub and turn it bothways. if it is free in both directions you have a bad bearing. If it turns in one direction only, the bearing is good.
Your agitator has a series of interlocking teeth on the inside which lock onto the corresponding teeth of the motor shaft. If these plastic agitator teeth are worn it wont grip the drive shaft, hence, no agitation.

Agator not spinning

There is no belt on that unit. It is a direct drive machine. When the unit goes into the wash cycle, does the motor run but it does not agitate?

unplug the power. open the top of the washer to expose the tub. Hold on to the top layer of clothing and rotate the tub by hand in the direction that untangles the clothes.

My Maytag Nuptune fav6800aww won't spin. I followed the directions to replace the clutch, but that didn't fix it. The tub will not rotate in either direction. I have taken the transmittion out and it...

Maybe the Outer Tub bearings are seized. With the Clutch Pulley removed the wash basket should rotate within the Outer Tub bearings with one finger in CCW and CW direction does it?

"" I followed the directions to replace the clutch, but that didn\'t fix it. "" Was it my post Clutch Fix post? If your FAV6800A used the Upper Bearing One-Way roller clutch bearing ring do you feel on reassembly the parts are seated correctly.

What are the first two digits of you s/n of your machine?

Was the Clutch Pulley One-Way Roller clutches bearing rusted up severely or only slightly? I'm trying to get a feel for a Tub Seal leak........Rich

My washer will wash and rinse the clothes, but won't spin. what is the problem?

Sounds like the Thrust washer problem to me. I believe this to be basically a Maytag single belt washer. Your symtoms sounds to me like the brake package is is not releasing the tub. Their is a cam riser built into the main drive pulley on these washers. The motor runs in one direction for wash and rinse and another direction for spin and pump out. In the spin direction the brake is released and the drum can rotate. With time the main drive pulley wears out. A new pulley and washers comes in a kit to fix the problem. More here

Loud noise during spin cycle even when I rotate manually - loose

ok, from the sound of things you're not going to like me any better when i get done than you did previously.. :)
if you can move the clothes tub/basket (stainless steel with lots of holes in it) not only around in a circle, but forward and backwards, and i assume diagonally kinda/sorta also within the constrains of the outer plastic tub/shell u gots big problems!!
within the plastic outer shell that keeps the water in containment, and houses/contains the bearing and seal assembly, would normally rotate a 3 armed spindle to which that stainless clothes basket is attached, those attachment points were prone to fail!!! especially if you live where you have acidic water which attacks the pot metal spindle assembly within 2 or 3 years, sometimes a little longer but usually just out of "warranty" unfortunately. now be warned or happy depending on how your warranty is worded that some of those "electrolux/frigidaire" manufactured kenmore appliances came with a 10 year "part" warranty on that same stainless steel clothes basket, and if that has defected and destroyed the bearings within that rear tub half then sears in their infinite wisdom should and will "when pressured" replace them both as one led to the destruction of the other. the labor to change them would fall on your shoulders and i'm not sure what they are charging for that level of repair now.
if u had to buy those parts you are talking about approximately $170 for the rear tub half w/bearing, and $200 for the inner stainles steel basket..
if you've never changed one of these before plan on around 5 hours, 2 bandaids, and lots of patience as the bolts that hold the tub together are only available from the front yet you'll be doing most of your wiggling from the rear.. save the foam blocks that the tub half come with for shims/spacers to hold the front tub half up with once u remove the shocks and springs ;)
have fun, and best of luck to ya..

Problem Magtag TL

UC means the washer cannot spin. There's a bulletin out this.
The clutch is likely the cause of these error codes, preventing the unit from spinning freely. A new clutch was introduced in production in March 2005 to improve performance and should reduce these error codes.

1. Visual verification can be made of a malfunctioning clutch by observing the lifter operation in spin. The lifters will rotate up to one complete rotation just prior to the tub starting to spin counter clockwise. Should the lifters continue to rotate while the tub spins, examination of the clutch will be necessary.

2. Inspect the 14 wire plug in the control console for loose red\white- pink- blue\white from the P3 connector. Also inspect the wires and connection point on the Tub Displacement Sensor for corrosion. Measure from PK to Wh/Bu at the P3 connector. The voltage should be approximately 1.5vdc when the tub is centered, 3vdc when the tub is pushed to the right rear of
the cabinet and 0vdc to the left front. Any variances of these voltages, the 14 pin harness connection, tub displacement sensor, and sensor connector should be checked.
