The only "kill switch" I am aware of is the switch on the DVD compartment door. I don't have your exact model but, on my model, this switch is activated when the door covering the DVD is closed and deactivated when this door is opened (kills the DVD spin and reading laser). Look for a small square hole in the DVD player deck and a corresponding raised piece of plastic on the DVD door.
this feature is related to the tv.
The black square is an space reserve for text. Most of broadcasting companies dont use it at all. Now to evoid it you go into menu look for close caption options and make sure to send the TEXT feature to off, Again in the TV MENU. Details and information about this feature is in the user's manual, specially how to turn it off.
I had a similar problem with Coby dvd 7500 the screen was faint almost black but could hear the movie sound. I cleaned the lens as suggested but it didnt resolve the problem.
I tired to rest the player by removing the power supply cord and the battery for 30 mins as suggested in the manual but that also didnt work. What I did was left the player without battery and the power cord overnight and it did start working in the morning!!
This worked for me and hope works for you guys too...
Try to look at your captions on your tv...you probbally have them set on text 1 or 2 which cause the box to pop up also why it goes away when you push a button. Turn all caption functions of your tv off...cc and text this should take care of the problem.
turn off you dvd player... them click on "setup" button on your remote
control! them click right botton to appear "tv sys" them click
"enter"... choose your tv system, PAL or NTSC.
It does have a switch but that is not turned on. The screen goes black after the loading screen comes on. And I can still hear the sound.
Does you DVD player have a switch for setting it to display on another tv? If so is it activated?
