Thanks Dan. The set is a Sony KB36 HS 20 . It flashes code 4---4---4---continuously. It comes on with sound, no picture, but, has 24 KV HV. I notice a slight brightness flash in the lower right corner of screen but no picture or brightness anywhere else. After approx. 30 seconds, a relay clicks and sound and HV quit. If I press on the same thing will happen exactly. The relay sound and HV quit. This will continuously happen its a loop. Set was playing excellent. I am wondering if I should just junk the set, or is it worth working on it. Do you have an answer to the issue?? The set weighs 240lbs. Its a monster but its only 4 years old. Please let me know any ideas you may have that could help me save the set, or let me know if I should get a mover to haul it to the trash heap.

Your help is always greatly appreciated.

This set should have the standby light blink a code number, pause number. Can you please post that count and the model number? With that I should be able to assist.

Try replacing C6532 which is a .056ufd 800V cap located off of pin 3 of the flyback. This cap often goes open and can cause this.

    Let me know the results.

Iput in new lamp 25 days ago as working good. now when i t/on tv. It comes on for about 20 sec @ then t/off for aout 20 sec. By it self. and keeps repeating on/off/on/off/on/off picture @ sound ok.

The lamp of course would be logical to suspect---the only suggestion I have as have seen this before is some of these sets if enough dust inside will do this---seen ones that would play twenty minutes and either shut off or off and on.

Seen dead ones also where dust on the fans slows them just a little-set monitors things like that===usually we take back off and set outside with a air compressor and clean all air channels out (air gets taken in from front area and exits rear).

It at worst will rule this possible solution out and at best may resolve the issue. Seen say fifty or more sets where after cleaning with air (no matter how clean the house is it may look like a dust storm when you air it out) the issue was gone.

One even had golf ball sized white spots in picture--dust inside the two month old set's light engine.

Good luck and I hope it helps as it cannot hurt.

Tonight my Sony Wega KDF-42WE655 screen went black and the audio stopped, the standby light (green) blinked on and off for about 30 sec. then the screen came back on and the green light blinked 5 sec or so...

Replace its lamp as existing lamp has been reached at end of its working hours life and need to replace to solve this issue. Please note lamp is not not broken or dead yet so you do not see lamp light on tv front.
Lamp replacement procedure is easy and written in user manual.
Please buy Sony original lamp for god picture in tv.

If lamp has not been replaced in tv in last 2-3 years, then replace the lamp as symptom shows that lamp has reached to end of its working life span and causing that problem.
Lamp is not dead or broke but weak so you get above said problem in tv.

Tv picture and sound comes on and off

You probably have a bad lamp sony part number A-1085-447-A XL2200 if your model number is KDF-55WF655. I recommend using original from sony 199.99 retail.

Sony KP-41S3U

Good Day;
On that model look for a small yellow cap, half the size of coin, dime. LOOK very closely and you will see a small burnt spot on the cap. The TV uses about 4 of them, they are 120/110 @ 2 kv. There are located in the high voltage circuit.
This the most common, it could be flyback or HV devider.
Good Luck and Day, big irish.
LET ME know.
