Change got under agitator how to get out

the top part of the agitator should simply pull off and down the bottom of the agitator in the middle there will be either a large wing screw you can undo by hand or there will be a small (10mm i think depends on model) screw u need to undo then u just pull the agitator out (may be very tight if its never been removed)

How do you remove the agitator from the Maytag Ultimate Care II washing machine?

Pull out the softener cup. Remove the water seal by pulling on the two wings. Remove the retaining bolt with an 11mm socket and a couple extentions. Pull the entire agitator out of the machine. With a sharp pointed tool cut the four melted portions of the white plastic **** even with the top of the clear plastic ratchet assembly by inserting your tool thru one of the three holes in the side of the top agitator. Pull the top agitator from the bottom agitator.

Top Agitator is not moving

This washer has a set of cheap plastic dogs that grab the inside wall of the upper agitator to move the clothes downward and help them get a better cleaning. The older style These dogs will wear out. To test whether or not these are bad just grab the agitator while in wash mode. The dogs should advance the top portion easily. If not then they are worn out. To replace them you must remove the agitator and sit it on the floor. Hold the base down with your feet and yank the top upwards. After seperating the 2 pieces you simply install the new dogs and line up the bottom with the top being careful not to break the little tabs on the bottom agitator that hold the top in place. The newer style you simply pop the cover of the agitator and use a 3/4 drive extention to unscrew the upper agitator. replace the dogs and put the top back on. Nothing could be easier.
