Try another monitor with your computer. If it works fine, try replacing the vga cable with the old monitor. If this does not work, the monitor is probably shot

I bought a new LTC montor to replace an old Samsung monitor and I don't know what plugs in where.

Hi there. There are generally 3 ways to plug a monitor into a computer as well as a power plug that plugs into the wall. The 3 connections are as follows: 1) VGA - this is the plug that has blue connectors. It is the most common but is losing popularity. It is likely what your old Samsung used to plug into the computer. 2) DVI - this is the plug with the white connector. It is becoming more popular today as it gives a better quality picture, however most computers without special video cards can't plug this in. 3) HDMI - this is the same connector that is used for high Definition TVs. It is the least common to have this connector on a tower computer. Chances are your new monitor has both DVI and VGA and it might even have HDMI depending on the model number of your monitor. VGA is likely the type of plug that your computer will accept. Check the back of your new monitor and see if has a blue connector with little holes in it. If it does then check to see if it came with a cable with a blue connector on each end. If it doesn't then you might have to go and buy one. You only need to plug in one of these types of connections at a time, so just choose one. I hope this helps.

My desktop red in colour i have lg flatron w1642s

Hi Shiva003,

This problem usually arises when a line in your signal cable is cut. I suggest you get a new signal cable and the problem will be history. When this cable is cut you may have your screen appearing reddisg, yellowish or blueish - RGB combination that produce all the other colours we see.

How do i connect my compaq pc to tv

Without the model number comptuer, I cannot verify what outputs your comptuer has. Without this, I will provide the various ways a PC can be connected to a TV.

1. Use a VGA to DVI adapter (HD-15 pin to DVI). Use either a standard VGA montor extension cable (cheaper) or a DVI extension cable (more expensive) to make the connection

2. If you computer has a DVI output, use a DVI extension cable only

3. If your computer has HDMI output - use a HDMI to DVI adapter and either a HDMI or DVI extension cable.

In all 3 cases, you will probably need to go to the comptuer's Display Properties and adjust the screen size so it looks OK on your TV (go to the Control Panel - find Display) and adjust the screen resolution to match the format of your TV.

One note - when purchasing DVI cables, understand that there are 3 types - DVI-D (digital), DVI-A (analog) and DVI-I (digital and analog) and that the pin outs are different. Be sure to check your the owners manual of your TV to find which connection it needs.

Here is a good reference for DVI types

Do i plug montor into 101o1 and my routor spot

The 10101 connector is for serial communications, not the monitor. Monitors usually plug in to a VGA connector, with 15 pins. Router may plug in to serial, but not sure, and no idea what line=home means.

CPU power problem

Check whether all connection are good and take out any CDs in the tray. I guess this must be a SMPS problem.

Dual monitors can't extend desktop

Connecting Two Monitors
Use the cable adapter to connect a VGA monitor and a DVI monitor to the DVI-I connector on the back panel.

When you connect two monitors, the video driver will detect this connection and activate the multimonitor functionality.
This is the only way to enable extended display. If you use a standard splitter and connect two DVI montors, the display will only be mirrored.
