Have no idea what happened. The controls locked light is on. Will unplugging the machine reset??? As far as I know, the machine was not in use.

While the machine is 'on' press & hold the "end of cycle" button for 3 seconds, or till the lock light goes off. This is on the far left or right of the machine's panel. Good luck! Pl rate me.

LID LOCK FAULT
Fault is displayed if Lid Lock has not moved into locked position or motor cannot be powered.
Lid is not closed completely due to interference.
Check for lock interference with lock striker.
Wash media buildup (detergent, lint, etc.) is preventing the lock mechanism from sliding.
Main control detects open lid switch when attempting to lock.
Main control cannot determine if lid lock is in a locked state.

Perform the following checks if the washer does not lock (or unlock).
1. Perform the Lid Lock test under Manual Test Mode on page 9. The following steps assume that this step was unsuccessful.
2. Check lid lock mechanism for obstruction or binding. Repair as necessary.

This is a common issue with these type of washers however, your whirlpool washer needs a reset to resolve the control lock problem. Press and hold the END OF CYCLE/CYCLE SIGNAL button for 15 seconds to reset the control. Please get back to me if you have any other questions.

the far right set of buttons lowest one, if you looked closely is marked "control lock" hold for 3 secs, the control light will go off

Solution: Hold down the power and delay start button at the same time. In about 3-4 seconds a beep will occur and the red key lock will turn off. I think it is a problem in the machines firmware. I just guessed at what combination of buttons the engineers used to do a firmware reset. In any case it worked for me.

Power interuptions are never good. If all your controls work and the door wont lock you are going to want to replace the door switch or latch whatever your manufacture calls it. Unplug it wait fifteen minutes (make sure door is shut) plug it back in (also reset breaker is cant unplug) if this dont fix it, either a control board short, easiest and cheaper repair is door switch/latch

push and hold in far right button on conrtol panel( look closly you see control lock) hold for 3 secs and it will turn off
