i also have a ghost image of the top half of the image on bottom of screen,
having disconnected zsus board and powering up this solves the problem but gives me a low resolution dark full screen image .my personal conclusion is the chips on zsus being overheated and faulty but can i find replacements.

I have the exact same issue, just happened this morning. I tried disconnecting the zsus and powering up as suggested, but did nothing for me. There's a louder than normal buzzing sound from the zsus, so I agree that something overheated or fried.

have you found a way to fix it yet?

I see that almost each post in here has a " Get premium assistance" next to it and I was wondering if anyone tried it... I've asked some of the techs here for an answer for over a month ago and got nothing so right now I'm asking myself if there is any tech here or just a webmaster cashing in from the "premium assistance" link.

just heard from the electronic repair place a couple of weeks ago, the main board would need to be replaced for $1000, or I could find the part myself online for $750. Too much, but it was a great excuse to get a bigger tv.

Sony pfm 42b1 negative picture

Hi,

I have a Sony PFM-42v1 and it does the same thing, look in your tv menu for picture inversion, usually under screen saver. What it actually does is reduce the chance of screen burnin. By reversing the image it sort of resets the hot areas, brightest colours and the cooler areas being dark colours, switches them around ( negative ). This cools the hot spots and heats up the cold spots.

There should be a option to turn it off, mine and I guess yours as a default is ON, mine has the ON, timer and OFF options.

Hope this helps, please let me know if you need more info.

Cannot even find where to plug to aerial point into the sony plasma flat panel display tv PFM-42V1

PFM-42V1 has no ability to receive channels through aerial / cable.
You can hook direct video cables from dvd player, vcr, PC etc.

Sony PFM-42V1 bottom half of the screen is a blurry ghost image of top

The Sony Plasma designe not to repair at component level your problem I believe in YSUS PCB you can adjust a few variables resistors on this PCB make sure to mark on the spot before turn you can alway go back to original point, set your plasma on normal channel turn the variable resistor slowly and observe the picture any spot will effect the picture if you can not adjust you need to replace a new PCB
Let me know how you go

sounds like X buffer/scan or control/logic problems. without good service info you will have a hard time troubleshooting. And it will get expensive guessing. Could even be a panel, probably gonna need a pro look.
