Please check you spelling before posting
you need a nic connection if your desktop has no nic card then you can not get connected you may need drivers for vista to recognize the nic card, frankly your question makes little sense please update your problem with a full description of your system and if there are unidentified objects in your system device manager.

I have a Dell desktop aio. Its model is Inspiron 19. Is there a button you have to press to get on WIFI? Thank you

Usually a wireless card does not come with a desktop model, but if you are sure you have a wireless card then follow these steps to determine if it is enabled.

Instructions for XP:

1. Click on Start
2. Click on Settings
3. Click on Network Connections and check to see if there are any connection called "wireless" if so then right click on it and make sure it is enabled. Once enabled double click on the icon and you should be able to view wireless network within range

For Windows 7 or Vista

1. Click on the Start button
2. Click on Control Panel
3. Click on Network and Sharing Centre
4. Click on Set up a new connection or network (from here you will be able to connect to a wireless network if you have a wireless card)

Hope this helps

Thanks

I have a Compaq Vista Home Basic desktop set up to a Linksys router for my PS2, PS3 and Wii. I want to set up a second desktop computer (Windows98) that will be wireless also. How do I do that? Thank...

a win98 machine will likely have a rg-45 plug in the back, it's unlikely that may come with wireless network card. just use a straight through cable (the typical network cable) to physically connect the win98 machine to your linksys router, if you don't have any special security on your router, your win98 should be connected after a few seconds.

if you are getting a network card (possilby wireless):
install a network card on your windows 98 computer. if you're buying one make sure in the package says that it is supported by win98 (most are supported in win2k, xp, vista and 7 now so look closely before buying),

if you already have a network card and you are trying to install it, look for proper drivers from the network card manufacturer (drivers need to match model number and operating system(win98)). install your network card as per indicated in package or website if you are downloading drivers.

if you are connecting wirelessly, assuming that drivers are properly connected look in the network manager you just installed and look for the network name for your linksys router (whatever you configure that to be when your first install the linksys router) and attemtp to connect providing a password or any security requested.

in a nutshell that's what you need to do!

HP pavilion desktop only has built in RJ45 connector--problem?

If you have built in 10/100 RJ45 then any network connection is possible.

One to one, you can connect to any built in 10/100 RJ45 equipped computer with a 'cross-over' network cable.

More commonly you can connect to a 'router' which allows a number of computers to connect to each other and to the internet . Use a search engine to find net setup on the 'web.
This is a very large subject so you need to decide what you want to do first!

I have been given a compaq presario C700 notebook with Vista Home basic systenm and I need assistance in enabling access to the work network and other devices on the ethernet

To connect by Ethernet catagory 5 or 6 cable

plug your laptop into an open port on the back of the network router

and set your workgroup name to the same as the network workgroup name

then make sure there are actually drives being shared with you on the network

If you are attempting to connect to a wireless network
you will need the wireless network information

1. your network SSID name
2. your encryption key or password needed to connect to the wireless network
