Random disconnections and pauses, belkin router f5d7230-4
I keep getting random disconnections. I just brought a belkin router f5d7230-4. I have a Zhone modem from Cavalier. I once had service with them and the download and upload rate was very good and very uncommon disconnections. I signed a contract with them again and receiced a new modem... the same one. The download and upload rate is very very low. I have two computers and a 360 connected to the belkin router. Once I setup the router, the rate went up a tiny bit but now Im getting random pauses in my connection.

Question: the connection to router disconnects OR the internet disconnects,
If router disconnect: then try being in range, choose a better spot, keep router in a good spot,
If internet disconnects, cal ISP get it checked, make sure you run ping test to make sure its consistent , here is an example,
open run: type cmd, hit enter,
type : ping google.com -t
hit enter, it should give regular pings without timeouts....if too many timeouts, internet service has issues,
call them and report..
Solved: Belkin G+ Mimo Wireless Router Issue
Ever since i bought this Belkin G+ Mimo Router, i've been having this problem, but couldn't find the time to take it back (or too lazy, whatever). :P
Trouble is, frequently when surfing the net, the router disconnects, for no reason. It happens almost everytime i go on youtube, and just some random sites i go on, will cause the router to disconnect. Can't seem to find the answer anywhere else, so i took it upon myself to register and ask you guys. Have no clue what the problem is, was thinking maybe a port issue, but since the router is uPnP i don't see how, besides, could that even cause it to disconnect? Anyway, any help is appreciated.
I would guess from your desciption that the router is around 2 years old. What you are seeing are typical for a failing home router. There are a few things you can try such as installing updates but generally those won't help for long. I've tried several things but in the end I ended up replacing it with a new one, That is what I would reccomend doing.
belkin is famous for dropping its signal for no apparent reason, in my findings and dealings with several routers i have found "netgear" to be the best company not just for their products but for their customer service and tech support as well
that happens alot when one or more device (for instance, the xbox 360 and a cpu) are trying to use the same ip address make sure you have the xbox 360 and all other devices (cpu's/printers) that are connected to the router set to aquire ip address automatically
Try to lower the MTU setting on the router to 1492.
You can do this by accessing the router setup page by going to your browser and type in http://192.168.2.1 leave the password blank if you're asked for a password the hit submit. On the Internet WAN, change the MTU settings to 1492 hit on Apply Changes.
