The sec displayed is security code in case radio is stolen it cant be used without entering the code. Owner may have disconnected battery and didnt put a memory saver in lighter outlet so it locked. If you go to dealer they can retrive the code for you then you enter code and radio should work.unless they changed the factory code. If not and code from dealer works keep in car or safe place so you have it. Usually no charge to do retrival at dealer takes 2 minutes. Hope this helps

you may have entered the wrong code or not pressed "enter"button after using code.leave to rest overnight then try as it may be in failsafe mode.

You need to be very careful Each failed attempt causes a long delay before you can enter it again. Follow the instructions exactly. You may need to use the car for a day or more before attempting it again if you failed too many times. The radio should say CODE not ERROR. Error means no code can be entered now. You must wait until the radio displays CODE.

First look @ the documentation of the car to see if you can find the Radio code Its an added sticker usually at the front of the manual you cant miss it!!! It is definatly not printed in the manual as a part of the car. The manuals are universal and it usually is on a separate sticker/sheet/writing.Turn on radio - the word SAFE will appear in the display. Press th P.SCAN and RBDS buttons simultaneously and hold them down until "1000" lights up in the display.Release buttons.Do not, under no circumtances, continue holding them down or press them once again. This will cause the radio to consider the number 1000 to be the input code.Use station buttons 1,2,3,and 4 to enter the code number on your Radio Card. Use the button 1 to enter the first number 2 for the second number 3 for the third number and 4 for the last number.Once you have entered the code and it shows on the display,press the P.SCAN and RBDS buttons down again simultaneously and hold them down until the word SAFE appears in the display.Release buttons. Soon afterwards a frequency will be displayed.

Turn on the radio and the display will show 'CODE'
 
Use the steering controls for code entry.
 
Press the [ ¬] button then rotate the thumb wheel for the correct first digit
Press the [ ¬] button then rotate the thumb wheel for the correct second digit
Press the [ ¬] button then rotate the thumb wheel for the correct third digit
Press the [ ¬] button then rotate the thumb wheel for the correct fourth digit
 
If the correct code is now shown on screen, 
press and hold the [ ¬] button for up to 10 seconds to store the code

First clear all codes. remove the neg. battery cable for 10 sec. then turn the radio on it will display CODE. Enter the 5 digit numbers using the preset buttons numbered 1 to 6.
