Epson CX8400 Blank Pages

I have an Epson CX8400 connected via USB to an iMac running Mac OS X 10.5.4. When I try to print, I just get a stream of blank pages or pages with garbage on them. A test page won't print, but I can run a printer test to make sure the nozzles aren't clogged and that works fine.

My problem is exactly the same as his. blank or garbled streaming pages

Just got a black Macbook.  Have the CX8400.  Never had a problem with this printer previously, infact with my previous mac PowerBook G4 I'd usually just plug into friends printers and print.  Never was an issue.  Now the printer is just spewing blank pages.  I recently moved, but I don't think the printer is structurally damaged, it prints a test page fine.  I've been in the whole print and fax settings, removed the printer, added it, and still doesn't work.  I'm baffled.

I was having the same problem and just got off of the phone with tech support who fixed the problem for me,

go into system preferences
print and fax

there you should see the printer cx8400.

remove the printer by clicking on the - sign.

then re add the printer, by clicking the +

the computer will search for the drivers and install them.

that should have you printing like a champ.

hope this helps.

The old solution worked last year when I tried it.  But didn't work again this year.
After doing a little digging came up with this nugget.
Hope it is as helpful for you.
Add printer and select the driver for the Epson Stylus CX7800.

Though the CX7800 driver does print the color is way out of wack.

Thought I should come back and report the latest discovered.

Best fix seems to be to reinstall original software that came with your printer.  If you don't still have it, I'd be willing to copy my CD for $5, shipping included in US.  If interested please email silver(at)6hourday(dot)org

Be sure to put relevant subject line otherwise I'd probably think you were spam.

Cannot Print from on Epson CX8400 from Mac OS X Leopard

I could only get my CX8400 to work with Leopard once I manually selected the driver located at /Library/Printers/PPDs/Contents/Resources/EPSON Stylus CX8400.gz

I think that may have appeared after installing a driver downloaded off the web, but I didn't track my steps carefully enough to be certain. I used

I know this is a bit jumbled, but hopefully it helps.

Same problem...printer worked fine on my PC, not on iMac

One of the simplest posted solutions worked like a charm for me...Going to System Preferences, Printer and Fax while holding CTRL key let me reset (delete) all the printers. Then I turned on the Epson cx8400 and the system found the right driver on the Internet. Problem solved, and so easy! I am a brand new Mac user with a billion years of PC behind me, so the whole Mac interface/way of doing things still feels pretty strange! So having a simple and effective fix for this problem is one less thing to deal with! Thanks!

My printer

If you're using a MAC System

> Delete the printer in the printer list ( make sure that there's no printer left in the printer list for the CX 8400 )
> Click on the plus sign to add the printer again in the printer list
in the Printer Brouser window you should see the printer listed there via USB connection., Click on it and check under
"Print Using" if the CX8400 driver is listed ( not a guten print driver )

> If CX8400 driver is listed under Print Using., click on add and try to print.

> If "guten print driver" or no driver selected you may need to uninstall the printer driver and download a driver from the epson website.

Steps to uninstall the printer driver:
1.) Make sure that the printer is deleted from the printer list
2.) Click and open MAC or Apple HD / Library / Printer., and look for the Epson folder (drag the whole Epson Folder to your trash bin)
3.) Click and open MAC or Apple HD / Library / Receipts., and look for "Epson Printer driver package or Epson Printer driver.pkg and drag it toyur trash..
4.) disconnect the connection from your Computer to Printer (USB)
5.) Empty your trash bin and restart your computer

Steps to download printer driver:

Misfeeds and partial printing with CX8400 on Vista Machine

Make sure you are connected to a USB 2.0 port on your computer. The printer does not do so well on a USB 1.1 port.

If you have a desktop, you can add a USB 2.0 adapter card. If you have a notebook you can use a USB 2.0 converter card (PCMCIA or PC Card or CardBus(32bit) or whatever).

Can't print to Epson CX8400

I had the exact same problem with the endless blank pages "printing" out.  I have a MacBook Air with OSX 10.5.6.
Before I got a chance to try and delete and reinstall all the drivers all over again, my phone call was answered by a very helpful lady from Epson's support line US: 562-276-4382.
Here's how easy it was to fix: Go into Apple System Preferences, click Printer & Fax. HOLD CONTROL while clicking on the printer on the left side of the screen.  When you HOLD CONTROL, it allows you to choose the option to "Reset Printers".
Click "Reset Printers", and you will see them all disappear.  Simply plug in your CX8400 and click the plus button to add new printer.  It will search for the driver for you if you have an internet connection.  It worked for me on the first try and took only about 2 minutes total!!!!
I'd wasted so much time installing drivers and screwing with the printer before this.  Save your time for things that make you happy!  Share help when you can!
