Question about Danby Heating & Cooling

1 Answer

I have a new 30 pint danby dehumidifier and wish to use the direct drain option. I have affixed a (clear) hose to the nipple as indicated in the booklet. the hose is sealed as it must stretch to sqeeze over the nipple. i hit the continuous run button and let it run. my problem is that the reservior fills up with nothing draining into the hose. is there another way water can get into the reservior from the condenser?

The hose connector should be capped or a hose connected and directed to a floor drain.

All Danby dehumidifiers, regardless of the model number operate the same way.
The link below to a 50 pint model should provide all the info you need.

However, I think you'll find that draining into a bucket is not an option. As the hose drain relies entirely on gravity to drain. So, it will not drain down and then up into a bucket. The hose drainage method, is designed to drain into a floor drain or a sump.

Hope this helps you.

Bucket fills instead of going down the drain

You may have an unintentional trap in the line (an up and down up and down. Hose has to lay flat on floor to drain.

Water will not go down drain tube

Sounds like you have a clog. Either try plunging the drain in the stationary tub or replace the line from the humidifer.. Just a thought

Danby dpac7008 portable air conditioner

I want to know how these portable air conditioners are supposed to be set up. Do they have to be on the same as the window out of which the hose goes? If the window is 4.5 feet off the ground, does the air conditioning unit need to be put on a table to make it and the window on the same level?

To the best of my knowledge the unit can stay on the floor and included the product features listed below and it does have a dehumidifier reservoir with direct drain and to make sure if you use the drain hose that the hose is higher than the item that you are draining the water into or you can elevate the unit so that the hose can drain outside and out the window - but you can also drain the water into a bucket or some thing that will hold water. I hope this will help you…..

Tank still fills when we are using direct drain feature

check to see that the hose isn't clogged, and that the hose runs down hill from the tank all the way to the drain. if it is higher than the tank at any point in its path it will not drain. you may put the dehumidifier on top of a small platform to aid drainage. also check that the knockout removed so there is a hole to let the water go from the tank to the hose?
