The factory default User name is admin and the default Password is blank (empty). It is recommended that you change the admin password for security purposes. Please refer to Tools>Admin to change the admin password.
You need to download the user manual. ftp://ftp.dlink.com/Gateway/di614+/Manual/DI-614+_manual_06292005.zip
If the password has been installed, and you cannot remember it, look for a recessed button usually located by the power input plug and press and hold it for about 10 seconds. Then pull the power out and plug back in (to restart) This action will wipe all settings back to factory. Which means you will have to setup wireless password and any ISP (Internet Service Providor) settings needed to access your service.

Can not access the 192.168.1.2 ip

Hey achek76,

I would assume you are trying to reach for router configuration page via your internet browser.

The first step I would take it to confirm this is indeed the correct address for such a page. In order to do this follow these steps:

  • Start >
  • Accessories >
  • Command Prompt or CMD
Once opened you should have what looks like a black box that you can write text in. Write in the following command:
  • ipconfig
Once this command is wrote you should get output that looks like this, along with some others but we are only worried about one and that's the default gateway which I have made bold. This will be the address required to reach your router configuration via your internet browser. (Ignore the address you see here as they are mine and are no use to you.)

Windows IP Configuration

Ethernet adapter Local Area Connection:

Connection-specific DNS Suffix . :
Link-local IPv6 Address . . . . . :
IPv4 Address. . . . . . . . . . . : 172.16.121.51
Subnet Mask . . . . . . . . . . . : 255.255.254.0
Default Gateway . . . . . . . . . : 172.16.120.1

If you confirm you are using the correct browser I would then proceed with resetting your router via the small pin hole located on the back, this will restore it to factory defaults and maybe clear up any problems the router is experiencing.

Once reset run the command I mentioned above and check your default gateway again and type that IP into your browser to access your router configuration.

Hope this helps!

Thanks for using fixya!

Can't chang NAT type from strict to open

Read User Manual to be sure that user/pass and default ip address for your router correct. And check if your computer received valid ip from Router. Usual check: 1. Restart computer. 2. Set IP address to automatic. 3. Start > Run.. > cmd.exe > ipconfig find IPaddress and Gateway. is it 192.168.1.x ? 4. ping -t <gateway>
If there are reponses, you good to go for the router configuration.

Need basic step-by-step instructions on how to install my router.

To Configure the Router with Internet Access
Connect to one of the wireless router/access point's LAN Ethernet ports, turn off its DHCP server, and give the wireless router a static IP on your LAN:
  1. Connect a PC directly to a LAN port on the wireless router with an Ethernet cable.
  2. Power on the wireless router/access point.
  3. Reboot the PC.
  4. Log in to the wireless router though a browser. (Usually 192.168.1.1, with User Name = admin and Password = password, unless you changed them from the defaults).
  5. Go to the LAN IP menu and disable the wireless access point’s DHCP server by unchecking Use router as DHCP server.
  6. Select LAN IP, and change the IP to 192.168.1.99.
  7. Click Apply to save the settings. You will lose the connection to the wireless router/access point , since its IP changed.
  8. Log in to the wireless router/access point with the URL: http://192.168.1.99
  9. Connect one of the wireless router's Local (LAN) ports to your existing network.
This completes the wireless router/access point configuration.
  • You can now log in to the wireless router/access point at its new address of http://192.168.1.99 and configure wireless features such as WEP and Access Control List
  • UPnP, DMZ, Port Forwarding, and Port Triggering are not used on the wireless router/access point, and it doesn't matter how they are configured.
  1. Configure the LAN IP address to be within the same subnet as your PCs.
    • Take care not to use an IP address already being used.
    • Limit the number of addresses in the DHCP range and assign an IP address outside of the range to the router you want to use as the Access Point.
  2. Disable DHCP on the wireless router/access point.
  3. Connect one of the LAN ports on the wireless router/access point to a LAN port on the Router.
  4. Configure the SSID and any security settings on the wireless PCs to match the wireless router/access point's SSID and security settings.
a. SSIDs must be the same on all wireless devices. (These are case-sensitive: netGEAR is not the same as NETGEAR.)
b. Tip: Make sure the wireless PCs can connect before configuring WEP, WPA-PSK, or other wireless encryption.

Hello, I just installed a new router, and it all

verify your internet modem it connected to the WAN port on your WRT160N, login to the WRT160N and go to the "status" tab and see what your internet status is. You should see a page similar to this:
moz-screenshot.pnghttp://i117.photobucket.com/albums/o64/arcticpaws/linksys.png
Verify your router has an Internet IP address. If it does not, then you haven't finished configuring your router. If it does have an IP address, then turn off your firewall and see if you can get connected that way.

My problem is I cannot access my router to enter my dvr information to view my cameras on line

Hello,

Get to a command prompt and type 'ipconfig' - no quotes.

You will see some ip addresses listed. The gateway ip address is the ip address of your router. Put that ip address into the address bar of your web browser and it will take you to the router config page. This is where you can do port forwarding if you want to be able to view the cameras from outside your network. Post a comment if you need any more help.

Or did you just forget your router password........or is the router not responding......let me know :)

ADSL ISP provides same address for IP and Gateway

Can you manually change the WAN IP on the router?  If so, give it an IP like 123.12.167.5 and set the gateway address to 123.12.167.1.  If it asks for a subnet mask, give it 255.255.255.0.
If she has a Linksys router, you may need to change the operating "MODE" on it.  A lot of Linksys routers have 2 modes of operation---Router mode and Gateway mode.  For her configuration, make sure the Linksys is in Gateway mode.  This will fix the NAT problem.

Cheers!
