Question about Trendware TEW-424UB (0710931502572) 802.11g/b Wireless Adapter

1 Answer

Little or no connectivity

The green light comes on. The two "horizontal thermometers" indicate a good signal is being acquired but the message "little or no connectivity" appears. I know that the thing is capable because I had a TEW 229UB before this one that my 2-year old grandson demolished. I have tried disabling the Windows Zero Wireless configuration service to no avail. It will not connect to the Internet.

Help!

I have been using my TEW-424UB and it was working just fine. Now it shows 100%connectivity, has the green light turned on, but it does not give me an internet connection. Whats wrong?

Do you have a WEP security key enabled on your wireless router?

1 Answer

No - the WEP security key is not enabled as far as I know. I'm not sure how to do that on the host computer

Dwl-510 11 or 54 MBPS

MBps or megabytes per second, is your data transfer rate. This varies on signal strength, quality, interferences, etc. If you can get a little closer, great if not, try to get metal obstacles out of your way to get a little better signal. Wireless ethernet is transferred via radio waves, often metal objects can obscure the signal strength. Also try moving the antenna to a horizontal position this sometimes helps.

When I connect the ethernet cable to my tower, I gave an orange light. What could be causing this to happen?

What Orange light are you refering to? You have an orange and green LED on the block of the Ethernet connecter, if the cable is plugged into the plug and the other end is terminated into another deive such as a modem, bridge, router or switch the orange light(led) should come on as that indicates a valdi link hence being called the link light, the green light(led) indicates data being received or transmitted. If orange flash with sparks(bad) from the plug it means there is power on the cable..very bad as this could be due to the ethernet card that is faulty or the device on the other end of the cable is faulty.

D Link Wireless N router keeps having to be re-set

I've seen this on a router that was broadcasting very little signal. (in my case the next day it died. When the laptop is running move away from your router and try to determine where it loses signal strength. A router is good from the factory for about 200 feet with no obstructions. In most homes I give them 30 to 40 feet. Be aware that windows and glass doors nowdays use a metal mylar film between the glass to reduce infrared rays. If you lose the signal very soon then I'd say the router is dying.

Good Luck

DWA 542 Wireless N Adapter Not Connecting to Router

There can be only 3 reasons why it is not connecting

1) there is security enabled >> in which case u have to enter same security code in computer

2) Mac filter feature is enabled on the router >> in this case you need to disable that feature

3) it is not getting enough signal strength check for interference like cordless phones or microwave owens next to your router

On the computer with the USB wireless card. Uninstall the wireless adapter program and use only the driver so that you can connect with the Windows wireless configuration utility. Then restart the computer and see if you are able to see the signal now. if not create a profile put in the SSID of your network and connect
