Question about Maytag Atlantis MDE6400AY Electric Dryer
Unfortunaltly we have had this happen before. Last time we paid$$$ to have someone "fix" the dryer. He said that the reset button was tripped... costly but easy fix. Now 6 months later same thing ... but I can't sem to find this reset button. Where would this be?
Thermal cutouts, thermal fuses, thermal resets, are not resettable, they are a one shot, last ditch, protective device.
fail once - wear,
fail twice - you must clean the lint out of the fan, and exhaust duct before the house burns down.
the thermal reset is a device like this , or this fitted on the fan housing.
open circuit fail and replace.
the local parts guy has them, there are only a few that fit multiple models it does not matter what brand imaytag dryer ... where is the thermal reset button - 4a10230.jpgcket
the exhaust ducting must be clean to the eternal wall vent

Tips for a great answer:
Item #2986 (OEM Part)
Thermal fuse. If the dryer overheats, this device stops the flow of electricity to the heat source and/or the entire dryer. It is located on the blower housing and cannot be reset. The most common cause for overheating is a vent tube clogged with lint, a birds nest or other debris.
