Need Hi-speed usb host controller

Hi,

. If you have an empty PCI bus slot on the PC motherboard, you an install a PCI card which provides you 2 or 4 USB2.0 ports which are available at around $10. There are some combo cards which provide both USB and Firewire (1394 ports).

I keep getting message saying my pc will run faster with 2.0 hi-speed host. how do i get it

Hi! Welcome to FixYa!

USB versions are USB ver 1.1 and USB 2.0 and USB 2.0 has faster transfer rate.
When you're receiving this kind of message, that means you're using a USB device that is compatible with USB 2.0. This happens when you plugged in a USB 2.0 device to a USB 1.1 port on your computer. It simply notifies you that the USB device can perform faster when you have an available USB 2.0 port. I'm not really sure what kind of computer you have and what version of windows you have but you can actually check if you have USB 2.0 by going to Device Manager, click on Universal Serial Bus Controllers and look for "USB2 Enhanced Host Controller" if you don't have this, that means your computer has no USB 2.0 port. Hope this helps.

I have a modem hooked up to one computer in my room, but my mom wants internet on her computer in her room, so I went to WalMart and they gave me this and told me it would work. However I really doubted...

Hi,

You have mentioned that you have a modem connected to one computer already, if you want to access another computer from a different computer through a wireless adapter then you need a wireless router or access point to transmit the wireless signal, because the Belkin N150 Wireless USB adapter which you have bought is just a "receiver".

If you have router already connected to your modem then please give the brand name of the router you have

Thanks & Regards,
Prema.

control panel admistrive tools, computer management, device manager scroll down universal serial bus controllers you should see a yellow question mark? right click to reinstall drivers or ports(com&lpt)right click update driver

If your Device Manager shows an ENHANCED USB Host Controller, the system has High Speed USB (USB 2.0) capability.

Types of High Speed USB (USB 2.0) Host Controllers

· Intel Enhanced

· SiS Enhanced

· VIA Enhanced

· ALi Enhanced

· Standard Enhanced

· NEC Enhanced

The system shown has onboard Intel High Speed USB (USB 2.0) with an NEC High Speed USB (USB 2.0) PCI card installed.

The key word is ENHANCED. If you have an ENHANCED USB Host Controller then you have High Speed USB (USB 2.0)

All other types are USB v.1.1

hope this helps

Hi-speed USB host

this means that you do not have a USB 2 port or do not have the USB2 drivers installed correctly if it does,

check your chipset drivers and spec of laptop with manufacturers.

if you do not have usb2 you can get a USB 2 PCMCIA card to supply this functionallity.

it is possible this is a USB low power issue as this is a laptop, but check your drivers and spec first.
