Question about Wireless Access Points

Laptop won't work on wireless connection

We received a new modem for our DSL connection. Since we got the modem, my laptop says it is connected to the wireless connection, but nothing shows up. I called my local provider and they don't help with wireless problems. I would just like to be able to connect my laptop again.

When you say nothing shows up , are you talking about the internet ? More info there.

Try some generic things first. Go to the bottom right corner where the icons are. Right click on your wireless icon , and then choose repair. See if that helps.

Also, check the status of your firewalls to see if that is what is keeping you from connecting. I won't tell anyone to disable their firewalls, but windows firewall gave me such headaches, I switched to the free one from Zonelabs and it works nicely and is much more intuitive.

Write back if that doesn't seem to help and we'll go from there.

Internet setup

It should work "out-of-the-box".
Be sure to connect using "straight-through" (not "cross-over") Ethernet cables.
Connect from the 'WAN' port on the router to your DSL-modem (or cable-modem).
Power-off the DSL/Cable modem.
Power-on the DSL/Cable modem.
Power-off the D-Link.
Power-on the D-Link.
Reboot your computer.
You should be good.

Dsl modem+ wireless router, no internet when i add a new phone

You may have crossed the wires on the new connection. This may be causing a short and shutting down the connection. Try reversing the two wires for the new phone. Then retest the connection.

Please leave feedback if this solves your problem.

We had to replace our modem & our wireless router isn't working

You have got a new modem. You will need to change the settings of the router according to the new modem.
First make sure that your computer is able to go online when connected directly to the modem. If that works then connect the computer to the router and the modem to the router.
open the set up page of the router and set up the router.

I have an old Linksys WRT54G v1.1 wireless router - trying to connect to my new DSL line using a motoral modem, to my Dell laptop running XP. help!!!

Is the motorola currently surfing and are you trying to add the linksys to it? If so you will need to go into the motorola and set it to bridge connection under connection type found in the expert mode of the modem. Then you will add the linksys and input the username and password in the pppoe connection type. Once the info is save click on the status tab and click connect. Hope this helps

Can I use AT&T 2WIRE 2701HG-B DSL to ant ISP?

look if u wish to go for verizon service,,they will provide u with a wireless modem as well,,but if u tell them that u hav a modem then they might configure this modem only,,both ATT and verizon are DSL service providers with PPPoE connections.the only thing u need is the username and passwrd from verizon which u have to setup on the first page of the 2wire setup page,,both the connections are dhcp based.so no other connection settings change required. But when u talk with verizon make sure u tell them of the 2wire modem

Moreover verizon has wireless broadband service which is actually a express card tat u have to put into your computer and u can go online anywhere u go within ur country{it works like a mobile phone}

best of luck,,keep me posted

Fixing own wifi to dsl modem

I suppose you need to connect the internet using WiFI and not cable DSL . Please follow the below steps.
You need to have a Wireless router in place and connect the DSL to the router , then u need to give an IP to the router.

Configure your laptop to the router device.
