I cant seem to scan anything using my MP190 printer do i need a program or anything like that?

Place the paper you wish to scan on top of scanner.

1. Go to window start manu.

2. Find picture board.

3. Click the file manu at picture board, and find the scanner.

4. Click the scanner and it will scan the paper as soon as you click ok...

5. After completion of scan, click "save as" and name the title wish to make.

That's all...

Turn on the printer and lift the scanning unit up.
The serial number is located on the back wall
on the right handed side near the ink cartridge home position.
It has 4 letters and 5 numbers.

There are no settings to change, The Canon will not operate to scan as long as there is an error. You need cartridges that are not empty before you can scan. It's not a problem, just the way multifunction machines are made. You should have a seperate scanner if you want only to scan. Sorry, no quick fix...

Confirm the connection between the scanning unit and the
logic board.Replace the scanner unit, orlogic board.

I refilled my MP190 Black cartridge PG-37 by drilling a hole in the top (roughly in the middle) and using the syringe supplied with the ink refill kit. To make the printer work again, press and hold down the Stop/Reset button (on bottom right hand side of printer) for at least 5 seconds until the display reads 1 again. This bypasses the ink level detector and is explained in the trouble shooting section of the on screen manual supplied on the printer installation CD. It works. It then happened again with the colour cartridge, so I repeated the process. It worked again. This should also work for the PG40 and CL41 cartridges.
