Make sure the yellow cable is going from the video out of the vcr to the video in of the tv.The red and white cables are for the audio (left and right).Good luck and please comment back and rate if this was helpful or if you need further assistance.

My TV/VCR combo is not showing the picture of my movie in the vcr. The picture is snowy, but there is audio of the movie. Do you know what the problem is?

try changing the channel from 3 to 4 or vice versa. You will usually get sound but no picture if its on the wrong channel

My jvc HR D170 ES vcr used to work fine when suddenly the picture ( snow ) is very bad but sound is ok ...tried to retune to my tv ...tried changing the rf at back ...tried tuning to my other tv and...

The vcr is fine. buy a cleaning tape. people say dry cleaner tapes wear out the heads, but it fixed my problem when my vcr only showed snow. but try a wet tape first. follow the instructions that came with the tape and run it a few times.

VCR will not show picture or menu on TV after power outage.

Hate to say this, but when power outages occur, things like vcr's are the first thing to fry. But if you feel that the vcr is fine as far as powering up, then unplug it from the wall socket for 30 minutes or so, plug back in and see results.

I've got a rank arena tv/dvd combo,I've hooked up an old vcr so we can tape tv shows, but I get sound but no picture-what am I doing wrong?

Two things. 1 Scart. 2 VCR head dirty.
The biggest cause of sound but no picture is the scart lead. The pins often fail to make a good connection and so leave you with sound only. Solution is to replace the scart lead, the better quality the better.
2 If you are playing a video and get no picture, the cause is dirt, clean the head with Servisol Video 40.

Sound but no picture on the vcr

Do you have a picture with just normal playback of VCR? If the answer is no, then it sounds like the head might need cleaning. Use Servisol video 40 see image below:

Can't get picture on TV.

If you were using RCA cables, you may have had them hooked up wrong. I know this may sound like an easy fix, but I still hook them up wrong from time to time. Especially if there are more than one set of RCA hook-ups on the back of the unit. If you were using a S-video cable you shouldn't have to use RCA cables, if you had both hooked up that could cause your DVD/VCR unit to not work properly and only get a partial feed to the TV. I hope this helps a little. Good luck.
