Have the Nortel T7316. This is an extension that is linked to our main office through a forwarding feature but, the phone lines are not tethered. While moving this phone in the office, somehow the voicemail code changed. It is not the same one I have written down. I entered the number too many times and the mailbox is locked. I have tried using feature 985 and tried entering 9, but the mailbox option never appears on the soft keys the only option is to exit (soft key). So my only option is to exit. How do I unlock the mailbox if I dont have the correct key and the mailbox option never appears. Is there a way to reset the entire phone?

Go here, http://support.nortel.com/go/main.jsp?cscat=SWDETAIL&SoftwareOID=147467, and download the Desktop Assistant. It will allow you to create custom labels for that particular phone and a few others in the 7000 series.

How to Change a Mailbox Password 1. To access the voice mail system press Feature.
2. Press 9 8 3.
3. When you see Log: enter ~ SETNNA (738662) and press OK
4. Pswd: CONFIG (266344)
5. Press "MBOX".
6. Press "CHNG".
7. Enter the mailbox number you wish to reset.
8. Press "Reset".
9. Press "Rls" to exit (orange button to the right of the number buttons).
Default password is "0000".

How do I reset a password on a Norstar Voice Mail mailbox?
Press Feature 983.
Enter the System Coordinator's Mailbox number (default is 12, 102, 1002, depending on length of extension numbers) followed by Password (default 0000).
Press MBOX.
Press CHNG.
Enter the mailbox number that is giving you troubles.
Press RESET. The password has been reset to default (0000).

Programming is done on 7310, 7324 and 7316 type sets.
Enter programming by pressing the feature key followed by **266344.When prompted to enter the password enter 266344.
The screen should say TERMINALS&SETS. The 4 top line/feature keys are now used for programming.
At the terminals&sets prompt, press the show key (top right arrow).
The display should now ask for an extension number.
Enter extension number you want to change the name on.
Press the show key (top right arrow)
The display should say LINE ACCESS
Press the next key (bottom right arrow) .
The display should say CAPABILITIES.
Press the next key (bottom right arrow) .
The display say Name.
press the Chng soft key.
use the dial pad to enter the name. advance using the arrow soft key to go to the next letter
ex. Bill = 2,2 -> 4,4,4 -> 5,5,5 -> 5,5,5
Press the next key (bottom right arrow) to enter the name.
Press the release key when finished
