This fridge has the coils that are not supposed to get dirty, but do anyways. Unplug it. You need to pull the fridge out and remove the panel at the bottom. You will be able to access the condenser from here, but it's kind of hard to get a narrow enough brush through it to thoroughly clean it, but get the most you can and make sure the fan blades are clean as well. Be very careful not to bend the fan blades, they are easily bent. Then make sure the area under the fridge is clean so the fan can easily move the air under the fridge.

SOURCE: Refrig not cooling Freezer has frost build up on coils

Frost on the coils won't allow air to pass to the fresh food section, thus resulting in insufficient cooling. To eliminate this problem, you will have to get a new adaptive defrost timer ( small board ), and a defrost heater assembly.

Where and how do we clean Maytag RSW 2400 coils? Do not see them. Thank you. Charles Vallandingham

Hello Charles,

To clean that coil which is located in the rear of the unit behind the cardoard access panel, carefully pull the ref.out and remove the access panel using a 1/4" nutdriver or socket wrench, then you will see the coils to the right side of the compresser(in will be painted black and spiral) use a ref.coil brush that can be purchased at home depot, lowe's of any hardware store and remove all dust from the coil and also the fan motor and fan blade(unplug the unit while doing this) Once done be sure to reinstall the cardboard cover since it is very important to the operation of the refrigerator
The coil should be cleaned two times a year

Maytag Side-by-side MSD2732GRS There is an intermittant solinoid "buzzing" noise coming from under the front of the freezer side of the cabinet. The freezer appears to be stuck in defrost...

That sounds like the compressor start relay buzzing in this case. Unplug and pull away from the wall. Remove the lower cover over the compressor area to expose compressor, condenser fan and condenser coil. Fill the top of your compressor to see if warm, hot or too hot to keep your hand on top of refrigerators compressor. If too hot to keep hand there leave unplugged until compressor cools enough to open the cover on the terminal box on the side and we need to do some test from there. Click here=> How to test a Compressor for Burnout Down on this Page almost at Bottom and watch the short video of how to test compressor windings.. Click Here=> MSD2732GRS Compressor Components and in that photo is part 4 and that is the compressor start relay=> 12002794 and then part=> 65889-4 Run Capacitor is number 6 in that photo. Don't worry this is only a windings test so you get an idea of what to look for.I want you to open freezer door and feel to make sure fans are running while compressor runs. I will await your response and guide you through this and if you have questions please ask, Thanks, Sea Breeze

If your refrigerator is running but warm, then...

Check out these tips that I wrote about that... it is a great place to start trouble shooting your unit...and something that you can do rather then calling a repair person to do a simple thing for you...

Maytacg dual cool refergeration

wherever you can access the condenser side closest to the fan is the best place because you want to blow compressed air through the coils from the side where the fan is located as that is the side where the air is sucked in through the coil assembly. you want to blow the dirt out in the opposite direction of the normal air flow through the coil fins.

Maytag Model RSW24EOD. Not cooling. Frost on freezer back wall

Low on freon or there may be accumulation of dust and dirt on the coils of the condensor. To check to see if the coils are dirty you need to remove the bottom panel of the fridge just below the frige door. Once you pop off this panel take a flashlight and look under the unit. You will see what looks like a radiator with a fan and fan motor in front of it. If these coils are blocked the unit will not cool since this is where the heat goes from the fridge to be dispersed. Clean the coils with a coil brush (purchased at any hardware store) and use a wet/dry vacuum to remove the debris. Once these coils are cleaned it will take about 12 hours for the unit to operate properly.
If the coils are clean already then you possibly have a compressor that is low on freon. I would check the coils first since most of the time this is the cause of the problem.

Good luck on your repair hope this helped you some

Dave

Our maytag refrigerator runs nonstop and doesn't get as cool, even after cleaning coils

Chek the interior lights. Make sure they are turning off. One bulb will cause these symptoms. Is the bondensor coil hot( it's the coil under the unit. If it is, The fridge is working but has a heat source that won't quit or run out.
