Check interconnect cables(from media source to amplifier input).
check speakers cables from amplifier out to speakers.
play different media sources(dvd-cd-vcr)and check.
apply a contact cleaner over volume control and move it in all directions.

My onkyo receiver wont play music loud, I can turn it all the way up and faintly hear some music, how can I fix this? The speakers are hooked up, but there is no sound, the receiver model is txsv373...

The most common cause of this is having the unit with the tape monitorswitch turned on. Check that first. If that is not the problem, the next likely problem is in the power supply. The output section is missing its main voltage. This will require professional assistance.

Please try the tape monitor first and update this with the results.

Kenwood Receiver VR 806 turning off

Sounds like the music amplifier is different to the tuner audio amp. The music amplifier is now looking at an unbalanced impedance which is less than it should be. Therefore the output chip of the music amp has more current through it than it wants so it gets hot and shuts down.Put a four ohm wirewound resistor ( from Radio Shack ) in series with each surround speaker to reduce the current flow through the amplifier output.

Speakers cut out

HI,

Are the speaker leads clean and full? ( not missing a bunch of strands) if so, it sounds like the spot where the speaker connectors tie into the circuit board inside.
I would find someone to solder that places where the connectors go into the main circuit board

Amplifier is about shot, need to replace IC pack or transistors (whichever it has). Could, remotely, be the speaker lines are installed incorrectly?out of phase. + to +, - to - from amp to speakers. Some amps will protect themselves when this condition occurs till fixed.
