Not picked up by computer. (by 2 users)

I've read faqs about this, I let it charge for the three hours. When I tried to turn it on I had gotten an loading screen and that was it, but before I could do anything about it, it went blank even while the power was clearly on with the keys lighted up. I've tried updated the firmware but the computer just doesn't pick it up.
