Hi, This sounds like a driver issue. The easiest way to fix this is go to dell.com. Once the go to support or drivers and downloads. You will be asked to type in your service tag. This will take you to the drivers used on laptop. If you dont have the tag number you can enter the laptop name, model etc and it will take you to the drivers page. Find the driver under "AUDIO" download it, open it, click on setup or install then follow the instructions. This should take care of the volume issue. Robert
hi.. First check to see if any external speakers work with it, then check
the device manager to see if there is any conflict between the laptop
and the internal speakers, if there is conflict try and resolve it, the
check the speaker drivers, ,then adjust the sound levels and test the
speakers, If they still dont work, take the laptop in for service...
the simplest solution is to uninstall and re-install the audio driver, but to find the installation information you would either have to know the type of motherboard ( if it is integrated) or the type of card ( if it is a separate sound card)
It will give you a report about all the drivers you have or that are needed for you PC. If not, then paste the make/model of the motherboard from it's report.
Select your emachine type and download the sound driver for it. Install the driver and restart the computer. Check and see if the sound card was properly installed.
What is your motherboard type and model? If you purchased your computer a brand new unit,a CD installerforit device drivers shouldcome with it. If you have that Device driver installer CD,try installing from the CD device installer that came with your new PC.
