Hello, W/D here.

If it has a tag on the cord that says UL listed, it should be fine. If the plug does not meet a national standard, replace it with one that is.

Best regards, --W/D--

Help took control plugs out and didnt get clear pic of where one wire plug belongs need a schematic

Bottom panel. But you shouldn't be able to put harness connector in the wrong terminal. The normally all have their own special cut in the board or they will be color coded.

Samsung dryer issue

Do NOT up amps on fuse, needs only 30 amp fuse, more than that risk of fire. I would replace power cord with new one hardware stores carry them. If old cord plug pronges are burnt, or discolored, should be bright color of brass not dark. Then check terminal block in back for same condition.

You are replacing single pole light switch?
Single pole switch has 3 wires: black and red and bare copper

New device has 4 different colored screws: green, dark, brass, silver
Bare copper goes to green screw.
Black wire goes to dark screw
Red wire to brass screw
Nothing on silver screw for a moment. Test circuit and make sure light turns on-off.
If lights works, then good so far.

Now let look at silver screw. Neutral wire has to connect to silver screw.
In back of your electrical box are white wires twisted together and covered with wire nut.
These are neutral wires.
You must connect another short piece of insulated wire to these neutral wires and run that wire to silver screw.
The neutral wire will complete circuit to receptacle.
If you do not have neutral wire, then receptacle will not work in that box without additional wiring.

Hook up neutral wire to silver screw.
Now turn on power and click switch again.
If circuit breaker trips, then reverse your red and black wires.
Otherwise this should be correct wiring.

I need to convert a 3 prong dryer cord to a 4 prong

Hi. Ok, with the rear terminal block cover open, you will see three wires. Black on one end, white in the middle and red on the other end. Use your 3/8′ nut driver to remove the nuts or a Phillips screwdriver to remove the bolts (depending on your dryer) and remove each dryer cord wire from the terminal block. When you remove the nuts or bolts, be careful not to drop them down into your dryer. Next, you need to disconnect the bonding jumper on your dryer. The bonding jumper is either a metallic strap (typically copper or copper clad) or a green wire that is connected between your dryer’s neutral (white wire) terminal and the green ground screw connected to your dryer’s frame. If you removed a ground wire instead of a bonding strap from the neutral terminal, you need to connect this ground wire to your dryer’s frame. Loosen the screws at the connector and pull the cord out. Now thread your new cord through the connector and tighten down. This only needs to be snug do not over tighten. Sometimes the old connector will work with the new cord and sometimes not. If not, your new cord will include a connector that you may use. Now,to hook up your new 4-wire dryer cord, connect each wire to the dryer’s terminal block matching color for color (white to white, black to black and red to red). Connect the green wire to the green ground screw on your dryer’s frame. Once the wires are connected, simply recover the space, and secure the cove with the screw provided.

Can you sweat pvc pipe

Hi,
No you cannot. It must be glued and you cannot effectively glue pvc to brass. They do make pvc drains with a brass top... that is what you need to use, then you can glue to the drain and still have the brass look that you want.

Hi, I have a probLem! No doubt you hear that frequently!! First, you need to know I'm 60, and not a mechanical or electrical bone in my body. I found this site as I was looking for a heating element for...

The two red wires on the dryer probably connect to the short red/wht wire at the end with the extra connector. The other end of the red/wht wire would then connect to the blk/wht wire with small brass connector. This arrangement should place the thermal cutout in series with the high limit (ie, one after the other). Suggest you post pictures if this doesn't sound right.

Brand new dryer threw braker twice, then no heat and timer stopped working. Electrician tightened connections on wires to dryer settings dial, had heat for one load, then same as before. Replacement dryer...

might want to check your dryer outlet. If the terminals are loose in there it could cause you problems. If your dryer plug is a 4 prong you might be loosing one of your 220v legs due to a short . As the dryer runs the wires and connections will heat up and expand , if there is a faulty wire or connection then it may loose connection after a load. could be quite dangerous and a very possible fire risk so i would check it out ASAP . if the outlet is old they sell for about $20 at you local home depot or lowes home improvement. for a 3 prong plug you need to hook up the black and white wires on the brass screws and the copper ground wire to the green screw. in a 4 prong application you hook up the black and red wires to the brass screws, the whit wire t the silver screw and the copper ground wire to the green screw .

If your new dryer is supposed to be a 4 prong plug and you have it with a 3 prong cord then you will run in to issues . The difference being a 4 prong electric dryer is a dual voltage unit where it needs both 220v and 115v to operate correctly, where a 3 prong dryer only has 220v and the earth ground. if your not familiar or comfortable with electricity please call a qualified electrician to come hand handle the work. if not done correctly it can cause fires or possible electrocution

Replace electric cord

First,follow manufacturers instructions if possible.

If you need a 4-wire cord you will attach the black wire to one of the gold or brass colored screws on the dryer hookup and the red wire to the other brass or gold screw. The white wire will connect to the silver screw and the green wire will connect to the green screw or to a screw that is connected to the frame of the dryer.

If you need a 3 wire cord you will place the two outside wires (if looking at the cord if laying flat), one on each brass or gold screw.Next there should be a metal strip or jumper that you will place to connect the green screw connected to the frame of the dryer and the silver or white screw together. Then place the white, or center wire, on the silver or white screw.

Instructions that came with the dryer should show you how to do this.

Make sure the cord is unplugged before unhooking the hold cord or installing the new one.

If you see something different that what i describe or need anything else just write.

Wire a 4 prong l dryer box

First with any electrical repair, safety must be observed. Be sure the circuit is turned off at the breaker panel (check wires with a voltage tester)
quality gloves and eye protection should be worn.

Typically the terminals or screws in the plug will be color coded (2 brass, 1 aluminum & 1 green)

The black and the red are both hots and can be connected to either of the brass terminals.

Red - hot = Brass terminal
Black - hot = other Brass terminal
White - neutral = aluminum terminal
bare copper - ground = green terminal

I hope this helps...
