Gateway blank screen

Here's some tricks I would try. Something here, might help...
1. Verify the monitor's power cord is plugged firmly into the wall outlet and the back of the monitor.
2. Verify the monitor cable is firmly connected to the computer and the monitor.
3. Verify that you have turned the monitor power switch on.
4. If the power light on the monitor is not on, test the wall outlet (plug in a light or something you know works).
5. If the power light on the monitor is not on, try a different power cord.
6. If the power light is on and yellow or orange or flashing, but nothing displays, or the display is incorrect, borrow a monitor from a friend. If that works, your monitor probably needs replaced.
7. Also, you could try your monitor on a friend's computer. If it doesn't work, your monitor probably needs replaced. If it works properly on your friends computer, the problem may be with your computers video output port, motherboard video chip (or video card, if you have one), or drivers.
Good luck.

No Graphics

Shine a flashlight on the dark screen to see if you barelysee the icons on the desktop. If so, then the LCD Inverter is bad.

Plug in an external monitor and see if the display shows up on it. It can beany kind of monitor even the old big fat crt monitors as long as it has a vgacable to connect to your computer's vga port. If so that proves yourvideo card is ok. The video will show on most systems when you rebootwithout you having to do anything. Some systems will require you to hit the FN(Function key) + F1 thru F12. Hold down the FN key then hit the correctkey for displaying on the monitor (F1 thru F12). The correct key willnormally have CRT/LCD on it or it will have the icon of a display.

If you see no icons by shinning a flash light and the external monitor works, then your screen is bad. If you see no icons by shinning the flash lightand nothing shows on the external monitor, then most likely your video card isbad.

My computer will boot, I can hear the windows noises but the monitor will not come on at all. It keeps flashing. Also after a little bit the light on the tower starts flashing like the monitor does.

Hello,

try to unplug and plug the cable from monitor to your pc, this is a problem of a connection. If it does not help, try some other cable which is working on another computer.

Flashing tower light is not a problem, it probably starts flashing just because of you are not doing anything on your computer, so it turns to sleep mode.

Hope this helps,
Lucas

My monitor screen is ok for awhile but suddenly turns a dull yellow color. I just bought it a few months ago.

Hi,
you must adjust the display settings in the software program that was being used to change the display setting.
  • If you have a flat panel LCD monitor, unplug the monitor power cable, wait about 30 seconds, reconnect the cable and then turn on the monitor. This resets the electronics on the monitor.
  • Make sure the monitor has power - the light on the monitor is on. If the light on the monitor is off, the monitor does not have power. Connect it to a different power outlet.
  • If the monitor has a detachable video cable, obtain a second monitor cable for testing purposes in case the cable is bad.
  • follw the another steps-
  • Replace the monitor power cable.
    1. Turn on the monitor. If the monitor displays an image, you are done. If the monitor remains blank, continue using these steps.
    2. Replace the video cable. Turn on the monitor. If the monitor displays an image, you are done. If the monitor remains blank, continue using these steps.
    3. If the monitor does not work after replacing the cables, replace or service the monitor
  • Thanks,

Hp pavilion a705w Light flashed in front and back on and off

Try a different monitor with your PC. If it does the same thing then you know the problem is with your PC. Also connect your PC to a different monitor. If it works OK then your monitor is bad. Does it beep at startup? Describe beep codes and someone on this website will decipher them for you. This might help to diagnose the problem.

Acer laptop aspire 5570z, screen is blank wont turn on, no operating system, is it video card? just bought off ebay waiting for message back from him.

We can find out if its the Video card if you have a monitor around. There should be a VGA plug on the back of your laptop if you plug that in and turn on the PC. If you still don't see anything onscreen try pressing <FN> + and <F5> together to swap displays. If theres no display after that then you do likely have a faulty video card. If you do git a picture on the external monitor, try the display swap key combination a couple of times and see if the LCD screen comes on. If not you likely have a faulty LCD screen or a backlight that has gone bad.

If the Notebook has faulty components I would recommend taking it to a certified repair facility. In the US I know Best buy and Circuit City are authorized repair facilities.
    Hope this helps

the prolem could be with the connection, unplug and plug back the cable that connects cpu and monitor.even then if the problem persists, the problem must be with the display drivers.

Computer monitor comes on for 1 seconds, flashes "analog power save mode" and then goes black.

Most monitors will say "Power save mode" when they can tell through residual voltage that the signal lead is plugged into a machine, but there's no picture being transmitted. The four states of a monitor are:

    * Off entirely.
    * Switched on, plugged into a computer but no video signal being received - usually displays "analog power save mode" or "digital power save mode" for a few seconds, then blanks. Comes back to life the moment a video signal is received. This state is the default in full power saving mode.
    * Switched on, not plugged into a computer. Some monitors don't display anything, some go into power saving mode, some fly "CHECK SIGNAL CABLE" or a similar message around the screen. Picture is restored when the signal cable is plugged back into the computer
    * On fully, receiving an image, and displaying.

    Hope this helps.
