Did you drop the remote? IF yes the PC board might be cracked or the IR diode at the front of the remote might have just died. Try and look for broken pattern near the IR diode or apparent cracks in the PCB. If you find a break in the foil pattern, simply scratch off the green varnish on the board and solder a wire jumper over the cracked pattern. Once tested operational the apply some epoxy glue to the board to solidify it. Best of luck

Just bought a new Curtis Progressive Scan DVD Player and the remote will not work. I have changed batteries twice. Is this a problem with the remote, or with the sensor?

you can always take it in for a warranty check ( still under warranty)and regardless of a receipt problem the payment details will be on the retailers records as to when you purchased it .

Status on recorder says load and I cant move it off there

I would take the other route: The remote can be tested without the unit--all shops(ours does) have a tester--point the remote and press any or all buttons and the tester reacts if the remote is sending a signal.

Some digital cameras will react in the same way on their display screens in a dark room with a flash.

check the remote first.

DVD Recorder TT 1620 The remote quit working. I changed battery sill nothing. Can I order a new remote or is this a contact problem with the battery?

Battery contact, broken wires, desoldered led emitter or other component on the circuit board, leads on the circuit board damaged by battery leakage, dirty contacts on keypad and/or on circuit board (only if just some of the buttons don't work).

Listed above are some possible reasons, could also be a fault in the infrared receiver section on the dvd unit, you can test if the remote is flashing by looking at the emitter (front end) through a cell phone camera while pressing the buttons on the remote - if it works you will see a led flashing inside the remote.

Pioneer 530H DVD recorder

You said that you have changed the batteries.
While you're checking the batteries, make sure that the contacts for the batteries aren't corroded or bent. You can clean them with a pencil eraser followed by a nail file. If necessary, gently bend them back to their correct position.

Try these too,
  • Go up to the receiver and try changing the channels without using the Remote Control.
  • Refer to the Remote Control setup instructions, and make sure you have the correct codes programmed for your equipment.
  • Make sure nothing is blocking the front of the receiver (e.g., furniture).
  • Make sure you are operating the Remote Control within 20 feet of the receiver.
If all the above doesnt work,

Either the remote or the receptor on the device is not functioning.

1. Use an Infrared Sensor Card to see if the remote is sending a signal.

2. If the remote is sending a signal, it used to control that device, and no other solution works, you should have a service center look at the device and remote to determine the problem and if it can be fixed.

Hope my info solves your problem,
Thanx for using fixya....
