Hello,
I would advise you to ALWAYS to FIRST UNPLUG YOUR VACUUM before beginning any service procedure. Even though the belt looks fine it does stretch out and then it will not spin the brushroll @ the speed it is supposed to spin, there are 2 or 3 things to check. #1. The brushroll has be turning or spinning freely without the belt being on the unit. #2. The motor pulley has to be spinning freely as well #3. The belt needs to be changed every 4 to 6 months for the best cleaning and to store the extras belts in a Ziploc bag in the refrigerator. So if you need further assistance, please feel free to contact your local vacuum cleaner dealer in your area or in the yellow pages, or contact the factory phone number or website to further assist you with your questions. I am not sure what the brand name of the central vac is, and maybe next time you can include the brand name and model #.

Thanks, Don the Vac Man

The belt may look fine, however, if the roller brush is not spinning then the belt has stretched and is no longer providing enough tension. The only solution is to change the vacuum belt. You can find any vacuum belt you need at www.vacbelts.com and shipping is only $1.99.

How can I repair the carpet power head?

You may have stripped the gear end on the beater bar. I suggest that you contact RepairClinic.com They have parts and also give good advice. I have used them in the past and found them to be very reputable.

Brush roll won't turn only a few times

Shane:
Unplug the machine and lay it on it's back with the handle release in the release position (the vacuum head should be laying flat also). Remove the foot plate from the vacuum head. Manually turn the brush roll (called a beater bar). The beater bar should turn fairly easily and the belt should turn the motor armature shaft (now would be a good time to check the inside surface of the belt for grooves or damaged spots which would cause the armature shaft to slip on the belt). If the beater bar has too much resistance to your turning it, I would suspect that the bearings at each end of the beater bar are fouled with hair, carpet fibers and string. Remove the beater bar from the machine and manually spin the motor armature shaft (where the belt contacts the motor) to see that the motor armature shaft spins freely. Remove the bearings from the end of the beater bar (they won't come off easily so you may have to use a prying tool such as a screwdriver). Try to spin the bearings. If they are fouled, dribble some rubbing alcohol into the bearing (I use a spray bottle... it's much neater) and turn the bearings while keeping them soaked with alcohol until they spin freely without ratcheting. Drop some 30 weight engine oil into the bearings until they are saturated, then clean the outsides of the bearings with a clean rag (no alcohol) until the outsides of the bearings are completely dry and no oil drips out of them (don't want the oil to attract dirt). You'll probably need to replace the belt. Reassemble the machine and it should work for you.

Why won't brushes move on Commercial Carpet Pro Vacuum Cleaner

Luvumuch48tj:

Unplug the vacuum and lay it upside down on some newspaper. Remove the sole plate (bottom plate) with a screwdriver. Pull straight up on the brushes (called a beater bar) and remove the beater bar and belt. Remove the end caps and bearings from the ends of the beater bar (it may take a 2-grunt pull, or CAREFULLY pry the end caps and bearings from the beater bar with a screwdriver) Don't stab your hand with the screwdriver... That HURTS! Once you have the bearings and end caps off, remove the hair, carpet fibers and other gunk from the ends of the beater bar, end caps and bearings. Dribble a little rubbing alcohol on the bearings in the end caps and spin the bearings to clean them... keep dribbling alcohol in the bearings until the alcohol draining from the bearings is clear. Dry the bearings until there is no alcohol in them. Now would be a good time to check the opening in the vacuum head and the hose going into the body of the vacuum for clogs. Reinstall the bearings and end caps on the beater bar and reinstall the beater bar with a new belt in the machine. Reinstall the sole plate. Your machine should run like new.

Sebo k3 won't vac on carpet...only hard floor

Do you mean the beater bar stops turning and then it doesn't vacuum?
Or it shuts off when you jam it full of carpet? Read the below manual:

I was running my vac when it caught the fringe on a throw. I turned it off and carefully pulled it out but now I don't have any suction and it's not cleaning the carpet.

Don't know the model too well but the beater bar is what goes when that happens(the brush that goes around right there on the intake of the sweeper) it has a belt that makes it turn and you probably broke the belt or burnt it up or it came off so it is the belt that is the problem. That will give you those symptoms because the beater bar (rotating brush) is what lifts the dirt up so it can be sucked in.

I have a Eureka 'The Boss Smart Vac'. The beater

Yes, you need to replace the belt. You should actually change this belt every year. Here is a link to the belt you need and the manual which has instructions:

Bought a new sweeper and brush ( beater bar ) does not turn. The large belt is fine and turns. The small thin belt is also fine but does not turn the brush. It is either the wrong belt or is there...

Jim, To put tension on the brush, tilt machine forward when upright, move carpet selector knob to carpet. then turn vac on. Brush will only spin when vac is tilted back to operate. brush stops when upright and on to use hand tools so the er is no danger to carpet or persons with moving roller.

Beater bar will not turn, think belt is broken, but do not know

the model number of the powerhead would be helpful - usually there is plastic cover with a lens for the light, push inward on both sides and the cover will pop offthere are two screws under that OR, there are two screws on the underside of the unit - it just depends on the style

Vacuum won't pick up any dirt - there's no roller marks when vacuuming carpet. Roller does turn and filters are clean.

Hi,

When you turn the roller, you should feel some resistance from the belt. Remove the base blate that surrounds the beater bar. Check the belt. Take care in removing the beater bar, so you can get it back in the same way it comes out. Clean the beater bar while you have the bottom open. If you remove the beater bar to replace the belt, take the time to inspect the cavity behind the beater bar where the vacuum picks up. That is where vacuums usually stop up. Reassemble the vacuum. If necessary, slip the belt over the motor shaft and then slide the roller undre the belt. Install the beater bar back in the sockets and replace the base plate.
Best regards,

Beater bar will not turn

if the beater bar wont turn on when you switch it from floors to carpets ( the knob near the bottom of the machine, and on the right side of it when your facing the machine ) then its probably the clutch mechanism that drives the belt, you will need to take it to a vac shop to have it fixed.
