Question about Fujitsu ScanSnap Manager

Driver scansnap Sorry for my poor english, I write you from France. For my new scansnap S510, impossible to install Scansnap manager V4.1, even with Norton 360 off. My OS is Windows XP professionnal, version 2002, service pack2. HAve you an idea? Thanks a lot for your help olivier olivier.migault@wanadoo.fr Scans

    I have Win XP SP3, Acrobat 8 full version installed. Am unable to install the ScanSnap Manager - installation fails with an Error Code -1. Uninstalling and reinstalling give the same result.
    Posted solution is not helpful; is there any further information from Fujitsu as to why users are getting failures? This seems to have started in July 2008.

    I am having the exact same problem. I tried deleting the files that the person below mentioned and I restarted. After restarting, I tried to install SnapScan Manager V4.1 and I got error message -1 for the 20th time. I feel like crying.

OK, I solved this. One or all of these was responsible:
- disabled two processes relating to CardScan software for my CardScan Executive
- allowed Windows Defender to enable a Startup process for ScanSnap Manager [this is unlikely to be responsible, IMHO]
- when I uninstalled the unsuccesful install of ScanSnap Manager and ScanSnap Organizer, PRIOR TO RESTARTING I deleted the folders: "c:\Program Files\PFU\ScanSnap"
and "c:\Doocuments and Settings\<user>\Application Data\PFU\"

After this it installed like a charm.

There should not be any problem installing that sofware on that OS and version. My guess is you have a botched (corrupted) install. Try uninstalling if you can otherwise let me know and we'll "clean out the registry." Good luck!

Try the following step :

Pre-Installation Steps
  • Log onto PC with an account that has Administrative Privileges.
  • Disconnect ScanSnap scanner, if connected.
  • Close any open applications.
  • Install ScanSnap Manager, ScanSnap & CardMinder software from the ScanSnap Setup CD-ROM.

    • Upon reboot of the installation you may receive an error message stating, “Failed to initialize driver module.” Please disregard and continue.
ScanSnap fi-5110EOX Vista Update Pack Installation Steps
  1. Download the fi-5110EOX Update Packs (Vista 32-bit Support)

    1. ScanSnap Manager V3.0 – ssv3020up.exe
    2. CardMinder V2.0L10-V2.0L11 – cm2012.exe
  2. Install all two update packs that were downloaded in Step #1.

    1. Reboot is NOT required after each update pack.
  3. Reboot the PC after all three update packs installed completely.
  4. Connect ScanSnap Scanner via USB, open lid, let Windows Vista install the new hardware.

You need to open Internet Explorer and add Thunderbird as your email program. Click Tools > Internet Options > Programs tab > E-mail: Select Mozilla Thunderbird from the drop down.

My Fujitsu ScanSnap S510 only flashes 5 blue lights


I got off the phone with Fujitsu and i was told you need to make sure that the ScanSnap Icon is in the system tray without a Red Line cross through it, so if it is not in your system tray start the snap scan program, if it's disabled re-enable it and you should be good.

The Fujitsu ScanSnap V2.2 L11 drivers have been patched by me to work with S300, S500, S510 and fi-5110EOX/2/3 PC-based scanners for the MAC. No need to buy a new scanner. Just apply the patch and then send me a Christmas card! ;)

Problem installing Scansnap S510


This is probably due to the program using the same folder for the new version of the program. Best solution would be to uninstall the new version, uninstall the old version and then reinstall the newset version only.
Running a registry cleaner in between does not harm.

One other thing to try is an uninstall program, but I am not sure that will help.

I have and love Scan Snap S500 on a pc.  I am transferring to a Mac.  I downloaded the Scan Snap for Mac S510M.  The program installs fine, but does not open.  The icon shows a big red line through it.  ...

Error while attempting to install ScanSnap Manager on Win XP Pro


Bypass installation wizard and just run the setup.exe file for ScanSnap Manager. Installation wizard is bugged.

Scansnap 510 on Vista 64 bit system?


Yes, it *IS* possible to run your ScanSnap S510 scanner on a 64-bit Windows operating system (e.g., Vista 64-bit, Server 2008 64-bit, etc.) but you will need to contact Fujitsu customer support (go to Fijutsu's website and look up their telephone number) and ask them to send you the link (along with username/password) to download the 64-bit versions of the ScanSnap Manager software as well as the CardMinder & Organizer software (optional).

FYI, as of March 2009 that is, the 64-bit version of the ScanSnap Manager is 4.2 L14 and the actual file name that you'll be downloading from Fujitsu's website is called "ssWv42x64.exe" (220 MB file).

Again, this software is NOT available from the public portion of Fujitsu's support website due to legal licensing restrictions. Additionally, this is NOT the same thing as some of the "updates" for Vista they have floating around the public technical support portion of their website.

"Failed to initialize the sRGB engine. Please reinstall ScanSnap Manager"


I managed to fix the issue by running a Command Prompt screen and typing the command: sfc /scannow. The system recognized that I had some corrupted files and it repaired them... After a reboot, my ScanSnap S500 is working again...
